Try food stations instead of a sit-down dinner

Halloween is all about fun, so let your guests mix and mingle over fall-infused cuisine. Paramount Events recommends Kale & Butternut Squash Risotto served in an Acorn Squash, Roasted Heirloom Carrots with Pomegranate Pistachio Hummus, Prosciutto Wrapped Pork Loin with Roasted Apples and (last but not least) Roasted Beet, Spinach & Goat Cheese Salad.

Have an interactive cocktail station

A Perfect Event/Carasco Photography

From a specialty cocktail buffet (stocked with fall favorites like Bourbon, Pumpkin Ale, Mulled Cider and all of the fixings) to a “dress your drink station” (literally costumes for your cocktails including dry ice, clever drink stirrers and eyeball ice cubes), cocktails give your guests a playful way to start the cocktail party. One of our favorite recipes comes from from Paramount Events: “The Great Pumpkin” is made with Bourbon, Amaretto, Pumpkin Ale, Spiced Syrup, Pumpkin Puree, Egg White and Grated Nutmeg. We also the love the drink shown here: “The Poison Apple” created by Debi Lilly of A Perfect Event, which is made with whiskey, spiced cider, rosemary and a cinnamon stick.

Black on black has never looked more chic. Dress your tables in simple black linens and accent with more black. Black candelabras, black taper candles, black votives, black napkins. The glow from the candles is all you need to tell spooky stories.

Make your house Haunted!

For the adults, follow Kristin Banta‘s lead and turn your space into a working haunted-house! For an experiential Halloween party she planned, guests traveled through eight highly stylized spaces of a private estate in Beverly Hills. Greeted by a brazen Ringmaster, guests entered the event through through a long circus tent and into a funhouse-style vortex tunnel which led them into a courtyard filled with circus performers. From there, guests wandered into a carnival wasteland of expired ride parts and traveled on a funicular to the lower level of the property where they transitioned between 5 different spaces throughout the rest of the evening, including a highly experiential Haunted House, all while sampling thematic bites and custom cocktails from an oddities and curiosities bar.
