VINTAGE VIBRANCE

Thanks to the bride’s incredible sense of style and love of bright colors, this wedding combined vibrant hues, chic vintage finds and endless details. Bride Shannon and groom Alec’s wedding had everything from a balloon backdrop to a custom marquee donut wall, hanging garlands and beautiful blooms. This layered naked cake, flown in from Momofuku Milk Bar in Manhattan, completely captured the vibe of the day with colorful sprinkles, festive toppings, an untraditional cake topper and, of course, pops of cheerful blooms.

GOLD STANDARD

Jetal and Ankit’s wedding colors were royal blue, creme and gold, so Chicago’s Malenia Events decided to go with textured linen for the cake table and wanted to incorporate the last layer of the cake to “blend” in with the table. The Malenia team used fresh ivory roses as the cake topper to complement the ivory centerpieces. Since Malenia uplighted the entire ballroom in blue hues, the cake was gold and ivory to be the “pop” of color.

FLOWER POWER

Hailing from Texas (bride Allison) and Nashville (groom Doug), these two Southerners incorporated their roots into every element of their wedding. Their reception took place at the historic Cafe Brauer in Chicago’s Lincoln Park, which was the perfect backdrop for their soiree. The couple insisted that every aspect of the reception be about having fun and breaking a move on the dance floor, while still retaining the elegance that a wedding deserves. On the terrace, guests could be found playing corn-hole, complete with University of Texas and University of Tennessee emblems, and sipping on mini bottles of tequila. The gorgeous cake, created by Cake Sweet Food, matched the reception’s tall centerpieces, as well as the bridesmaids’ bouquets.

RED, WHITE & BLUE!

For this Pakistani wedding at the Meadows Club in Schaumburg, Illinois, the client loved the color red—and also wanted blue as a complement color. Hence, the entire wedding—from the draping and lighting to floral and even the cake—followed this theme. By mixing in crystals and candles, the theme turned out to be quite stunning.  This wedding is a great example of a designer taking the likes and desires of the bride and mixing the palette with just the right touches to create a masterpiece.

GREAT GATSBY

With more than 600 guests, this Great Gatsby-themed wedding reception was held at Chicago’s Union Station. Chicago’s Elegance Decor designed the venue with a navy blue and gold color palette. The over-the-top reception featured tables of various sizes topped with centerpieces featuring candelabras, florals, feathers and pearl accents. Even the cake, created by Jewell Catering, was designed with the Gatsby theme in mind; it was kept elegant and sophisticated with a white base, and the color was brought in through navy flowers to match the rest of the decor. There was also a splash of metallic gold in the top tiers to bring in that Gatsby glow!

FABULOUS IN FLORIDA

For this colorful and fun wedding, bride Angela told planner Yvonne Van that she wanted a theme of “Mexican, not cheesy, and more gold the better… and glitter anything!” Van went back to her design studio and produced a board that reflected anything and everything she thought Angela would love. The wedding cake shown here was actually a faux cake created to represent the fun, colors and theme of the wedding. Since the goal of the wedding was laughter, fun and “to dance all night,” the wedding couple didn’t want to stop for a traditional cake cutting, instead offering a staircase with churrio cupcakes on it.
