Envision acres of space to accommodate food trucks, moonwalks, activities stations, and more. These outdoor party ideas for your Bar or Bat Mitzvah celebration promise to create lasting — and camera-ready — memories.
1. Host an Outdoor Movie Screening
This movie-magic Bar Mitzvah deserves an Academy Award for creative-use of outdoor space. Hosted at Sony Pictures Studios, a historic movie lot, this blockbuster Bar Mitzvah featured an outdoor movie screening in Calley Park. Design and production team, Rrivre Works, suspended a glittering chandelier from the branches of a towering tree, while patio heaters kept the celebration at the perfect temperature long into the night. We especially love how Plan It! Events utilized the expansive outdoor space for a red carpet entrance, old fashioned popcorn cart, dance floor and various activity stations.
2. Create a Parisian Street Scene with Flower Carts & Mimes
What’s the best way to showcase a the Eiffel Tower at your Bar Mitzvah without going to France? Host the celebration outdoors at the Warner Bros. Studios, of course. The Studios’ event production team worked with production designer Jakub Durkoth to create a red carpet entrance amidst movie-glam stanchions for this Parisian Bar Mitzvah. After that, guests stepped through the Steven J. Ross Theater onto Brownstone Street where a very French street scene awaited. Surrounded by period lamp posts, bistro lights, flower carts and picturesque fountains, Moulin Rouge dancers and mimes-on-stilts entertained celebrants en soirée. Guests enjoyed a myriad of interactive activities such a cookie decorating station and beret embroidery station, all under the beauty of the Los Angeles night sky.
3. Makeover Your Own Backyard
Sometimes the right backyard is a perfect outdoor venue for a glam Bar or Bat Mitzvah. Rose’s dia de la rose Bat Mitzvah chose the lush scenery of the Miami outdoors as a backdrop. Under the stars (and colorful string lights), guests enjoyed handcrafted Sangria and vibrant fiesta decor designed by Eventology Conceptual Design. The spacious yard allowed for a vintage mobile cart as well as kaleidoscopic bar stations. With no catering limitations, this bat mitzvah was able to offer some of the best food and drink in all of Miami.

Wooden chairs added the perfect nautical touch to this picture-perfect celebration.
5. Pitch a Glamorous Tent

New York Yankee-blue linens popped against white tent canopies. The garage’s all-white side paneling became the perfect spot for a projection of the Bar Mitzvah boy, while baseball-themed centerpieces and vintage chalk scoreboards completed the theming décor.
6. Enchant with Outdoor Chandeliers
Hosted in The Oaks Room at Calamigos Ranch, this Malibu Bar Mitzvah was straight out of a pastoral paradise. Guests celebrated out of doors with stunning views of a natural stone waterfall. Chandeliers glittered in the treetops and lush floral arrangements draped the rustic furnishings. Event planner Tal Orion Event Management suspended an ethereal tent over the open patio, allowing guests to enjoy the feeling of privacy without leaving their enchanted surroundings.
7. Use a Movie Set as a Backdrop
What could be a better backdrop for an outdoor Bar Mitzvah than the iconic streets of New York? While it might be challenging to rent an entire city block, in Los Angeles, there’s always a studio set to recreate the scene. This Back to the Future-themed Bar Mitzvah had the city all to itself at CBS Studios Center. Event planner Tal Orion Event Management created colorful neon decor to brighten the surrounding brownstones. A “Back to the Future” car made for a unique prop and photo backdrop.
8. Let Your Pool be an Activity
For an elegant outdoor Bat Mitzvah, consider hosting your celebration in a private club. This rainbow pool party at Whippoorwill Club captured hearts with its joyful aesthetic. Event coordinator Tara M. Events, Enza Events and Katie Balloons combined forces to create a multi-hued summer paradise. Moonwalks doubled as waterslides and colorful floats and a rainbow-colored balloon installation dazzled one Instagram post after another. Giant bubble wands and adult-sized tricycles kept guests entertained between laps around the pool.
9. Utilize the Natural Décor of the Great Outdoors
This chic Bat Mitzvah took place at Maple Lawn Estate, an elegant 19th-century manor. Surrounded by blooming Magnolia trees, the rose and white décor was both romantic and refined. Sheryl Denker Events + Design and Main Street Flora Gardens decorated the multi-tiered fountains with floating flowers and string lights created a soft glow around the perimeter of the garden. The covered patio made for a perfect dance floor and al fresco dining meant the starlit sky became its own beautiful installation.

With such a spacious backyard, there was also ample room for a basketball arcade, glow-in-the-dark ping pong and even a Sweetery NYC food truck.
