Many of the most beautiful (and delicious) wedding cakes we’ve seen were imagined thanks to incredible themes and creative color choices. Whether you want a hand-painted wedding cake design or a floral-covered masterpiece, any of your wedding cake ideas can become a reality, thanks to incredibly talented pastry chefs, innovative bakeries, and the event planners who bring each couple’s ideas to life. We’ve picked a few of our favorite wedding cake ideas and designs that would make any celebration that much more beautiful. Eat your heart out!
Hailing from Texas (bride Allison) and Nashville (groom Doug), these two Southerners incorporated their roots into every element of their wedding, as planned by It’s All Happening! Events. Their reception took place at the historic Cafe Brauer in Chicago’s Lincoln Park, which was the perfect backdrop for their soiree. The couple insisted that every aspect of the reception be about having fun and breaking a move on the dance floor, while still retaining the elegance that a wedding deserves. This gorgeous wedding cake, created by Cake Sweet Food, matched the reception’s tall centerpieces, as well as the bridesmaids’ bouquets.
After seeing this photo, we think all wedding cakes should be presented on a floral-adorned swing. Sugar Branch Events planned and designed this perfect wedding cake moment for the bride and groom, with the wedding cake created by the venue, The Resort at Pelican Hill. Florals from Nisie’s Enchanted Florist completed the look.
With more than 600 guests, this Great Gatsby-themed wedding reception was held at Chicago’s Union Station. Chicago’s Elegance Decor designed the venue with a navy blue and gold color palette. The over-the-top reception featured tables of various sizes topped with centerpieces featuring candelabras, florals, feathers and pearl accents. Even the cake, created by Jewell Events Catering, was designed with the Gatsby theme in mind; it was kept elegant and sophisticated with a white base, and the color was brought in through navy flowers to match the rest of the decor. There was also a splash of metallic gold in the top tiers to bring in that Gatsby glow!
For this colorful and fun wedding, bride Angela told planner Yvonne Van that she wanted a theme of “Mexican, not cheesy, and more gold the better… and glitter anything!” Van went back to her design studio and produced a board that reflected anything and everything she thought Angela would love. The wedding cake shown here was actually a faux cake created to represent the fun, colors and theme of the wedding. Since the goal of the wedding was laughter, fun and “to dance all night,” the wedding couple didn’t want to stop for a traditional cake cutting, instead offering a staircase with churrio cupcakes on it.
We love wedding cake, but we especially love wedding cake when it’s on a table full of delicious pies. This wedding in Bend, Oregon, as planned by Events by Mint, was filled with gorgeous rustic elements, including this stunning three-tiered wedding cake from Foxtail Bakeshop.
Jetal and Ankit’s wedding colors were royal blue, creme and gold, so Chicago’s Malenia Events decided to go with textured linen for the cake table and wanted to incorporate the last layer of the cake to “blend” in with the table. The Malenia team used fresh ivory roses as the cake topper to complement the ivory centerpieces. Since Malenia uplighted the entire ballroom in blue hues, the cake was gold and ivory to be the “pop” of color.
