5 Chicago Alfresco Dinner Party Destinations
There’s nothing better than an alfresco dinner party with friends—whether it be in your own backyard, at a chic restaurant or on a stunning hotel patio. Thinking of throwing a dinner party before the weather turns treacherous? Here are four of our favorite Chicago spots to host an alfresco bash.
AVA AT THE PUBLIC HOTEL
Located on the 17th “Penthouse” floor of Public Hotel, Ava offers seating for 32 on its fantastic terrace, which features views to the North, East (the lake!) and South (to downtown). If there is rain, no problem. The inside features plenty of natural light, white linen drapery and window sheers. The room also features a neutral and soothing décor of dove grey, crisp white and taupe tiling throughout.
THE HANGOVER AT ROOF ON WIT
ROOF, the rooftop lounge at theWit, has earned international acclaim for its expressive design, sweeping skyline views, terrific entertainment, and unique hand-crafted cocktails and cuisine. Located on the 27th floor of the Wit, ROOF has indoor and outdoor spaces, a retractable, glass enclosure and the “Hangover,” a platform that juts out over the side of the building, delivering breathtaking views. The Hangover is available for a seated cocktail reception-style dinner party for 19, offering small plates and appetizers.
LITTLE GOAT
Located on the second floor of the Little Goat diner, the Little Goat Kitchen and Terrace, which can accommodate up to 40 for a seated event and up to 75 for a cocktail reception, includes access to a gorgeous outdoor terrace with beautiful views of the city, and a charming indoor dining area with a state of the art chef’s kitchen, designed by Snaidero. The indoor space is reminiscent of a Chicago city apartment with soft tones and large windows that allow natural light to fill the space and is fully equipped with antique flatware, pastel ceramic dishware and rustic wood tables and chairs! It is a cool city spot, perfect for a summer evening dinner party.
PICCOLO SOGNO
With the gorgeous warm weather we are currently enjoying, Piccolo Sogno is an ideal destination for any summertime soirée, thanks to its lush, gorgeous and spacious outdoor patio. A go-to venue during alfresco dining season in Chicago, the garden escape is a fitting backdrop for enjoyment of the restaurant’s signature homemade pastas, pizzas and other Italian specialties, as well as red, white and sparkling refreshers for any warm-weather dinner party.
