5 Unforgettable April Weddings

Event Planner: Guerdy by Design | Floral & Decor: Ocean Flowers and Events | Venue: Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach | Photographer: Roey Yohai

As the weather swings from winter’s frigidity to summer’s humidity, there’s a sweet spot right between the two — the crisp, yet warming, days of spring. April, friend to puffs of peonies and gads of gardenias, offers the opportunity to exchange vows as the earth springs forth verdant and green. April weddings are frequently greenery-heavy affairs with sprigs of fresh blooms showcasing the season’s bounty. They often feature sunny spaces that make use of the longer days of natural light without the associated chill of a spring evening out-of-doors. Here are a few of our favorite April weddings.

Eclectic Vintage

Chicago light sign backdrop
Event Planner: Regine Danielle Events | Venue: Salvage One | Photographer: r3mg Creative Boutique

The industrial vintage aesthetic of Chicago’s Salvage One set the tone for this stylish reception. Event planner, Regine Danielle Events, created luxe tabletops with sparkling runners, gold silverware and gold-rimmed china. Mismatched wooden chairs in styles from mid-century modern to traditional antique added eclectic flair. Spring’s floral bounty — white tulips and ranunculus with effusive greenery — in hammered copper and silver mercury glass vases brought natural beauty to the hip space. Photographer r3mg Creative Boutique captured the fun event and a cool shot of the newly-betrothed couple in front of a lit “Chicago” sign at the venue.

Florid Florals

Event Planner: Guerdy by Design | Floral & Decor: Ocean Flowers and Events | Venue: Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach | Photographer: Roey Yohai

Soft white draping on the ceiling and walls of this Four Seasons Resort Palm Beach reception offer the feeling of a tented soirée with none of Mother Nature’s unpredictability. Ocean Flowers and Events created greenery-twined balls of string lights to bring outdoor lighting inside in a beautiful and unpredictable way. Statement-making vivid tabletop florals announced spring’s arrival with rich blooms in bright violets, blues and greens. Event planner, Guerdy by Design, tied the design together with bronzed seating and tapered candle holders. The head table, as captured by photographer Roey Yohai, sat in front of a lush greenery wall offset by the bright yellow wood chairs and lavish blooms.

Garden Gazebo

Canadian outdoor wedding
Venue: Le Chateau Montebello | Photographer: Chantal Benoit Photography

This Canadian wedding featured an outdoor ceremony in a raw wood gazebo framed by nature’s stars — freshwater and evergreens. Chantal Benoit Photography captured the bride’s stunning bouquet which featured a single bloom variety arrangement of delicate calla lilies with their bright spring stems bare at its base; the lilies were accented by arching long leaves in an intricate lattice pattern. The all-white floral theme continued down the aisle with creamy hydrangeas and onto the reception’s white tabletops adorned with more alabaster blossoms and greenery. The Le Chateau Montebello’s cabin-like interior nodded to winter with its dark wood log beams while silver mercury glass candleholders added some understated glamour.

Anemones, peonies, ranunculus — this spring wedding featured the trifecta of amazingly gorgeous, hard-to-spell, flowers. Life in Bloom crafted a nuptial floral story featuring blooms galore in bouquets and long greenery runners on tabletops evoking the lush season. Even the place card display utilized nature’s bounty with a vine wall anchored to a wooden door in the chic space of Chicago’s Saddle & Cycle Club. Photographer Clary Pfeiffer captured the season’s delicate natural light as filtered through sheer white drapery and the soft glow of silver glass votives.

Classic Tented

white tented pavilion space
Event Planner: LOLA Event Productions | Florals: Exquisite Designs | Venue: Galleria Marchetti | Photographer: Brittany Bekas Photography

There’s no guarantee that spring in Chicago will be sunny or warm so this beautiful wedding made smart use of Galleria Marchetti’s four-season outdoor tented Pavilion space, which offers the feel of the outside with the warmth of the indoors. LOLA Event Productions kept the décor in the chic white space simple and classic with white linens and black napkins while Exquisite Designs outfitted tables with ivory hydrangeas and peach-hued roses. The show-stopping cake from Amy Beck Cake Design featured four layers of carved frosting with luxe gold detailing.
