7 Private Dining Spots in NYC to Impress Your Guests
New York City is known for its abundance of renowned restaurants, one-of-a-kind galleries, rave-worthy rooftops, and hidden village gems. But Alexa Mehraban of EatingNYC knows the way to an event guest’s heart is with an unforgettable (and Instagrammable!) meal. This in-the-know foodie shares her 7 favorite private dining spots across Manhattan’s map — including one where she was proposed to! Whether you’re planning a corporate meeting, baby or bridal shower, or an intimate dinner party, keep these restaurants in mind to wow your guests — and their taste buds.
This bright and airy Brooklyn bungalow offers a fresh perspective on NYC private dining. Filled with natural elements such as suspended potted plants, woven furniture, and a gravel floor, this sun-drenched spot is ideal for an upbeat baby shower or birthday celebration. White exposed brick offers a customizable space, while mint furniture inspires a pastel palette. Your guests will be wowed by the rooftop garden, where they can enjoy an escape from the city as well as a photo op, which Alexa always appreciates.
Alexa-Approved Dish: Malted pancakes, Wood Roasted Mushrooms, & Apple wood smoked chicken
L’Artusi
West Village – 228 W 10th St.
Private Wine Room: 16 people
Upstairs Mezzanine: 50 people
L’Artusi is a Michelin star awarded restaurant and Alexa’s all-time NYC favorite — perhaps because it was here that she got engaged! This West Village charmer is known for its unbeatable pasta dishes and modern take on traditional Italian cuisine. We’re so impressed with the Private Wine Room, which fits 16 guests and is surrounded by over 2,000 Italian bottles. It’s filled with light wooden furniture and white chairs for a bright vibe. Host a birthday dinner or corporate meeting in this airy-yet-intimate space. For a larger celebration, you can also book the Upstairs Mezzanine, adjacent to the Wine Room, fitting up to 66 guests.
Alexa-Approved Dishes: Ricotta cheese to start, Roasted mushrooms, Bucatini, & Olive Oil Cake
RedFarm
Upper West Side – 2170 Broadway
Private space: 20+ people
Red Farm of the Upper West Side is the perfect preview to a rustic wedding. Host your rehearsal dinner or bridal shower at this country-chic, farm-inspired restaurant. Red and white gingham patterns add an authentic touch to the otherwise super modern space. White exposed brick pairs with natural oak beams for a striking contrast in styles. While décor feels simple, Alexa ensures us the menu is far from — tantalizing Chinese American dim sum and stir-fry are the stars of the show here.
Alexa-Approved Dishes: Pork & crab soup dumplings, spicy crispy beef, & the RedFarm chicken salad
Laduree
Soho – 396 West Broadway
Pompadour Room: 50 seated
When Alexa thinks chic, she thinks Laduree. This Parisian macaron brand epitomizes French luxury and elegance, with interiors inspired by the grandeur of Marie Antoinette. The Soho Laduree location is ideal for a day celebrating an NYC bride-to-be. Pastel hues, crystal chandeliers, and ethereal murals come together for a no-additional-décor-needed, glam venue space. Consider a bridesmaid brunch or baby shower in the Pompadour Room, a blue-toned private space fitting up to 50 seated guests.
Alexa-Approved Dishes: Salmon club sandwich, Ispahan dessert, & of course their afternoon high tea menu
Maialino
Gramercy Park – 2 Lexington Ave
Private dining room: 24 seated
Owned by famed New York City restaurateur, Danny Meyer, you’re ensured a perfectly curated experience while hosting a private dining event at Maialino. Alexa loves their sleek-yet-inviting Private Dining Room which seats up to 24 guests. This space features dark wood elements in its flooring and seating as well as shelves of refined wines. The all-white walls allow for décor and florals of any color. Guests will enjoy the spacious room, as well as the sweeping views of Gramercy Park. The rustic Italian cuisine is perfect for a holiday get together with family or an intimate rehearsal dinner.
Alexa-Approved Dishes: Cacio e pepe, & ricotta pancakes on the weekend
Sadelle’s
Lower East Side – 463 W Broadway
3rd floor dining room: 45 seated, 60 standing
The picture-perfect bagel platter at Sadelle’s has likely crossed your Instagram feed, but sensational sliced lox is only the start of what this spot has to offer. The exposed brick restaurant features romantic lighting, including modern globe light fixtures and candle sticks galore. Contemporary art dons the walls for a funky NYC twist. This buzz-worthy spot can have hour-long waits, but is available for private dining reservations or a full venue buyout. The third floor dining space overlooks the gorgeous venue, but offers an intimate hideaway. Alexa recommends this sophisticated spot for a bridal shower brunch or client appreciation breakfast.
Alexa-Approved Dishes: “Everything!” Especially the French toast, salmon salad, and salt & pepper bagels
Momofuku Ssam Bar
East Village – East 13th Street
Ssäm Bar Back Dining Room: 36 seated, 50 standing
For a unique dining experience, consider fan-favorite Momofuku Ssam Bar. Momofuku has a variety of restaurants under its well-known umbrella, but Alexa recommends the Ssam Bar in East Village for a New York night of private dining. With an ambience all restaurants strive for (and an even better menu), we recommend booking the Back Dining room for a corporate cocktail hour, followed by a seated dinner.
Alexa-Approved Dish: Steamed pork buns, Maine uni over rice, Spicy pork sausage and rice cakes, & Whole rotisserie duck ssam
