A Retirement Party Fit for the CEO
by Katie Hennebry Kozlowski

Retirement parties should be a gorgeous celebration of the retiree… but the logistics of getting an entire busy company together for a special luncheon was proving to be tricky with a demanding work agenda.

Shure Corp. turned to Bliss Weddings and Events to figure out how to swiftly gather staff in the middle of the day and create a special celebration for the company’s president.

No strangers to bringing the unexpected to life, Bliss turned the otherwise standard conference room in to a breath-taking Mid-Summers Night Dream luncheon.

“We blocked out the conference walls with an airy pipe and drape and created an entrance to the room with draped fabric,” explains Jesse Deckard, director of design for Bliss Weddings and Events.

From there, Deckard and his team suspended wild smilax from the ceiling, and dressed the navy table with handsome china and jewel-toned flowers. A tabletop favorite?

“Match your candlesticks to your linen color,” Deckard said, “it’s dramatic and bold.”

Bottom line… the crew loves to take overlooked spaces and make them something special. Dinner parties in the master bedroom, pool parties in a cabana rather than the pool deck and even meeting spaces can all be the perfect setting for an unforgettable celebration.
