With the advent of new laws and a decrease in stigmatization, events all over the country are beginning to incorporate CBD and cannabis elements. When it comes to successfully planning an event featured cannabis or CBD, David Pressman from David Pressman Events tells us that it’s important to start from a place of respect. Easy-to-locate signage with clear labels and an educated events staff — to routinely pick up glassware and keep an eye on younger guests — can preemptively create a safer environment for guests who are new to cannabis-infused products.
Pressman offers that a great option for incorporating CBD or cannabis-infused products at an event is to feature a dab bar or offer to add tinctures to drinks. Dabs are concentrated cannabis doses — extract THC and other cannabinoids; dab bars and tinctures provide guests with the option to consume or decline — and even the opportunity to sample in small amounts before deciding. Guests should always feel like they have the option to say yes or no to a new experience.
Other interactive, experiential stations — think cannabis-infused cocktails and CBD-infused cotton candy — provide a controlled and safe way to showcase cannabis products. Pressman recommends CBD hand and foot massages for an experiential, and relaxing, way to include the trend.
We’ve toured the country to find some of the most innovative ways to bring CBD and cannabis to your next private event. From CBD candy to custom cannabis vape pens and a one-of-a-kind cannabis wedding, cannabis is making its mark on American culture and showing us new ways to celebrate in style.
The Revel Group is an agency based in Chicago made up of independent event-centric businesses that include venues Revel Motor Row and Revel Fulton Market, as well as Revel Décor and Limelight Catering. At this company-wide brainstorming session, staff planned for upcoming seasonal event trends and were invited to taste test signature Revel Events CBD cocktails. Chief Creative Officer Sarah Finlayson-Banasiak tells us, “Today, you can’t go five minutes without hearing about CBD, so when we hosted our Spring/Summer trend brainstorm, we thought it was a perfect environment to test CBD cocktails with our team.” Staff enjoyed sampling cocktails with innovative flavors like strawberry-chamomile-paloma and gin-lambrusco.
Event planner Percy Sales of Percy Sales Events brought sophisticated entertainment to this fashion show at Hotel Figueroa. Percy tells us,“Since cannabis became legal in California, we wanted to showcase a positive and safe way to incorporate it into any event.” Guests loved the cannabis chocolates and vapebar by Grassfed LA. Chic bohemian-seating, designed by Collective Rentals and Town & Country Rentals, allowed guests to both watch the fashion show and enjoy the cannabis-infused activities in stylish comfort.
This cannabis-themed wedding at Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Tabernash, Colorado proved there’s more than one way to incorporate cannabis into your celebration. Both the bride’s bouquet and groomsmen’s boutonnieres featured marijuana buds. Instead of traditional seating place cards, guests found (and received) individual potted marijuana plants scripted with their names and table assignment. Interactive wedding activities included a blunt rolling station and cocktail lounge with hookahs. Danny Chaimson of Gold Coast Events and The Gold Coast All Stars — who provided entertainment at the fun celebration — tells us, “The cool thing about the wedding was that other than a little added element of curiosity and excitement in the air, it was pretty much the same as any other high-end Jewish wedding — in a good way.”
Who says party favors can’t be for adults? Jason Rhee, owner of Rheefined Company, planned a sophisticated take-home gift for the guests at this minimalist Palm Springs wedding. Cannabis-oil vapor pens from Bloom Farms came in elegant packaging that perfectly matched the desert florals and abundant greenery designed by the The Bloomin Gypsy. Guests enjoyed the discreet vape pens between spins on the dance floor.
Milk Makeup’s Hydro Grip product launch party at the Ace Hotel Palm Springs invited guests to experience skincare made with blue agave and cannabis seeds — purported to plump and smooth skin. Design and décor company Wild Child brought in plenty of green foliage and green lights to complete the look. We especially love the cannabis leaf name tags that awaited guests as they sat down to dine.
Photographer Jason Kaczorowski captured a gorgeous Jamacian rehearsal dinner at Kaya Herb House, the first medicinal Ganja herb house in the Caribbean. In addition to a cannabis dispensary, the multi-purpose facility included a dab bar and on-site cultivation farm. The next day, the bride and groom celebrated their wedding at Firefly Estate. Guests enjoyed pre-rolled cannabis joints from Kaya Herb House as well as rum from Firefly Estate owner Chris Blackwell.
For LadidadiXM’s one year anniversary party at House of Blues Chicago, founder and senior producer Noelle McInerney provided guests with Half Day CBD samples. McInerney tells us, “Half Day CBD is one of our clients and therefore partners — and we wanted to use the event as a stage to showcase not only Ladidadi, but also our amazing vendors who help make our events as great as they are.” Sheri Whitko Photography captured the tropical floral centerpieces by HMR Designs and chic take-home party favors by Half Day.
This cocktail party at Lionsgate Event Center in Lafayette, Colorado showed us all the unique ways to include cannabis at a celebration. Irie Weddings and Events provided guests with colorful edible gummies in flavors ranging from blue-raspberry to sour-lemon. Vape pens came in exotic flavors like tropical-fruit and strawberry-lemonade. Guests could sip on “canna-cocktails” but were also given the option to enjoy non-infused beverages. We especially loved the heart-shaped chocolate edibles that came in charming pink-packaging.
TINSEL Experiential Design is known for creating visually-stunning celebrations. So of course, their 4th annual Eleventh House Party, captured by Scott Clark Photo, was a sight to behold. Pinch Food Design treated guests to a gorgeous CBD punch bar featuring white wine, pineapple, apricot liqueur, and rhum agricole flavors. Luxe Event Rentals contributed faceted mirrors to capture both the cocktail bar and striking lighting from every corner of the room.
PartySlate recently celebrated their launch in Wine Country at the Auberge du Soleil. Cole Drake Events created chic goody bags with refreshing beverages that included CBD-infused Daytrip sparkling water by Pacific Expeditors. Ranging in flavors from grapefruit to berry, these unique drinks were just as appealing as the world-renowned wines from local Napa vineyards that guests enjoyed throughout the evening — and to take home.
For years, the hemp plant was off limits when it came to food products. But, SoNo 1420, a distillery in South Norwalk, Connecticut, is now able to offer delectable whiskeys and gins made from hemp plant seeds and flowers. The result was pure perfection at this spirited SoNo 1420 launch party. Hechler Photographers captured the lively bartenders, while OnTheMarc Events catered delicious snacks to keep guests satiated all night long.
Everyone loves cotton candy at a street festival. This Charleston Wine + Food festival wowed locals with CBD-infused Creatively Clean Cotton Candy by Pure Fluff. What better way to celebrate a milestone birthday than with an inspired theme? This 60th birthday celebration brought the glamour of Aubrey Beardsley’s Cirque De Reves to these joyful celebrants. Event Planner Marc Hall Design deepened the magic with cannabis delectables. Servers passed trays of infused edibles, while bartenders poured a signature Purple Haze cocktail muddled with cannabis. Person + Killian brought the memories home with sensational photography that captured the creative costumes and acrobatic performers.
Terri Diamond Photography captured the bold colors and sensational entertainment of this Hy AF-themed 50th birthday party. Event planner M.Studio Events dazzled guests with futuristic decor.
