Conventional Hindu Wedding With California Flair

Sujata and Ani met briefly at a mutual friend’s party in San Francisco, chatted for a few minutes and nothing more—or so they thought. A month later, by chance, the pair bumped into each other while commuting on Caltrain. It wasn’t long before 45 minutes of undivided attention each day on public transportation became their perfect form of ‘dating.’

Two years later, the couple decided to make things official with a contemporary classic affair to celebrate the California outdoors they both enjoy so much. A traditional Telegu religious ceremony proceeded a true California reception — think alfresco dining, winery location, crisp linens and monochromatic colors. Anais Event Planning & Design incorporated live music, comfortable lounge areas, food stations, guest activities, and a DJ who played old-school hip hop, 80s/90s hits along with some bhangra music for a packed dance floor into the wee hours of the morning. The bride & groom’s exit via sparklers lit by friends and live music from the ‘dhol’ (iIndianpercussion drum) player may have signaled the end of the evening, but it was just the beginning of their new life together.
