Green Tie Ball Celebrates Milestone Year With Entertainment & Style

Chicago hosts a myriad of fundraising galas and events throughout the year, but the Green Tie Ball is one that is truly synonymous with the Windy City — not only for its direct effect on greening and beautifying expressways, gateways and communities, but because of the philanthropic pillars of the community who come together to make it all happen.

On Saturday, October 1, 2016, 1,000 of Chicago’s finest attended the 25th annual Green Tie Ball at Architectural Artifacts. The organization is actually five years older than the event itself, but in honor of its 25th anniversary, Grant DePorter, Chicago Gateway Green Chairman, asked Neal Zucker and Lara Shiffman — co-chairs of the very first GTB — to serve as co-chairs of the momentous occasion.

WGN Radio’s Roe Conn and Anna Dalvantes served as Masters of Ceremonies for the evening, complete with copious cocktails (Including signature sips created by Ketel One) and bites from iconic Chicago restaurants including Gibsons Steakhouse, Mia Francesca, Tavern on Rush, Shaw’s Crab House and Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse. Design and decor for the Starry Night was architected by Kehoe Designs. And for those with a sweet tooth, there was a giant celebratory cheesecake provided by Eli’s.

While guests imbibed (Why not?), they certainly worked it off dancing to sets from notable Chicago DJs including DJ Rock City and DJ Eddie Mills, as well as renowned DJ and musician Samantha Ronson. Charitable gaming stations provided by Rivers Casino helped contribute to the 400,000 that was raised for the Gateway Green organization.
