You may know Lucie Fink from her appearances on Refinery29’s website and YouTube channel, her own energetic YouTube videos covering everything lifestyle, or her curated, colorful Instagram feed filled with fashion, food, travel, and trends — all the trends. With all this inspired and elevated content, we at PartySlate knew we had to get to know her better. Lucie is busy planning her summer wedding, which will take place in the Hamptons (where else?) so she has been busy celebrating at plenty of pre-wedding parties. From bridal showers to bachelorette brunches, Lucie knows New York City’s must-hit spots for delicious, Instagram-worthy meals. Here she’s sharing her top 7 New York City outdoor dining spots — floating restaurants, rooftop gardens, NYC vineyards — perfect for your birthday party, baby shower, rehearsal dinner, or any other celebration.
Gallow Green is a lush wonderland of greenery located atop the McKittrick Hotel in Chelsea. This vintage train station-inspired rooftop bar is just as picturesque as it sounds — which Lucie appreciates, of course. Enjoy an al fresco brunch and sweeping West Side views over craft cocktails and delectable bites, including a suckling pig dish. For the theatrical (like Lucie), enjoy inspired performances like Shakespeare readings, magicians, jazz bands, and more. The décor, cuisine, and entertainment make this venue a one-stop-shop for an incredible event experience.
Capacity: 150 (seated) — 280 (standing)
New York City’s largest outdoor rooftop garden space, 230 Fifth, sprawls across 33,000 square feet. 230 Fifth is located across the street from Madison Square Park, offering unbeatable Manhattan views including its neighbor, the towering Empire State Building. This massive space is massively popular, and luckily, the venue is available for your large-scale private events with space to accommodate up to 1,200 guests. There is also a secluded penthouse space for more intimate gatherings. Lucie loves the live entertainment — from DJs to full-blown silent discos — and names 230 Fifth as the perfect spot for dining, drinking, and nonstop dancing.
Capacity: 25 — 1,200 guests
Lucie recommends celebrating a botanical-loving, soon-to-be bride or birthday gal at Rosemary’s in West Village. Fresh and seasonal vegetables, herbs, and spices are homegrown in the restaurant’s rooftop garden and are incorporated into the vegetable-based menu. The rustic-Italian cuisine and complementing wine list are enough to woo any city diners, but the inspired interior and rooftop space are what sets this restaurant apart from other NYC eateries.
Private Event Capacity: 8 — 16 guests
Located on the Hudson River, Boat Basin Café is a New York City gem offering incredible architecture on the 79th Street Boat Basin, sparkling water views, and a catering menu to match the impressive spot. This marina-side venue is the perfect space for a lively bunch to celebrate over classic favorites, BBQ, street food-style eats, and other palate-friendly options. We love the nautical-inspired décor — vibrant signal flags, royal blue umbrellas, striped table cloths, and so on — that makes this an idyllic summer spot to watch the sun go down.
Private events: 20 — 75
Escape the busy city with this open aired, wine-filled hideaway on the Hudson River in Tribeca. City Vineyard is one of Lucie’s favorite spots — it checks all of the boxes for an incredible event: water views of a sweeping skyline, flowing wine, and a hip atmosphere cranking 80s tunes. Take a tour through the beautiful wine garden with your guests and enjoy fresh, on-tap pours. City Vineyard also offers a full dining menu, which can be enjoyed from the glass-enclosed Main Dining Room, where no views are obstructed.
Capacity: 20 — 200
For a unique, stand-out venue space, Lucie recommends Frying Pan of the Pier 66 Maritime within Hudson River Park. This floating lighthouse near Chelsea Piers offers incredible city and water vistas, as well as a dreamy sunset setting. Frying Pan combines a dive bar spirit with historic beauty — the boat was engineered in 1929, but you can find a packed dance floor here all weekend. The boat is available for private events from May to October, for those looking to celebrate outdoors in NYC’s peak summer weather.
Capacity: 25 or more
Backing up to New York’s South Street Seaport is Lucie-approved Industry Kitchen. Enjoy wood oven grilled pizzas and other modern cuisine along the East River with gorgeous views of the Brooklyn Bridge and the borough’s skyline. Industry Kitchen’s menu is inspired by the seasonal markets of NYC, with unique bites including popsicle gazpacho and a bacon sweet potato pizza. Enjoy an intimate culinary experience at the 12-seat chef’s counter, or celebrate with all your family and friends from the 1,500-square-foot patio. This space ties stunning modern aesthetics together with a rustic-European atmosphere, making for a trendy yet timeless spot to celebrate.
Capacity: Up to 300
