Some of the Forbes 500 companies hold the most extravagant celebrations, and with good reason — they have much to celebrate. From topping annual Forbes’ lists to launching products we consume daily, each company has achievements — and people — worth celebrating with big events. Corporate events creatively tie in recognizable branding and set trends, while also giving employees and guests celebratory parties they deserve. So many of these favorite brands also make time to give back to their communities. From minimalist, understated gatherings to over-the-top bashes (scroll to see Adobe’s 3-day celebration for 14,000 people!), we are sharing how some of our favorite brands celebrate — and hoping we score an invite to the next one.
Hulu’s 90s-Theme Holiday Party
Hulu wowed its employees with its 1990s-themed holiday party in Seattle planned by Gravel Experiential. CORT Event Furnishings, Chicago helped make this celebration old school with retro arcade games, while The SnapBar photo booth boasted stereo-inspired props. Cassette and Rubix Cube-constructed centerpieces furthered the theme at Living Computers: Museum + Labs. Hulu sprinkled in some holiday spirit with signage and branding all sporting winter sweater designs. Foodz created delicious bites for guests while DJ Leslies and Seattle Parties kept them entertained. What we especially love about this colorful corporate event was its focus on giving back: Hulu featured a raffle where all funds supported Treehouse, an organization which provides youth in foster care in Washington with academic and other essential support.
Google & YouTube’s Fiesta-Themed Holiday Party
With the world’s resources quite literally at their fingertips, it only makes sense that Google and YouTube would host an epic event together. The companies collaborated for their Los Angeles holiday party, celebrating their shared employees on the West Coast. The event was a tropical-themed bash filled with fiesta-worthy details. The real star of the show was the entertainment, including a mariachi band, flamenco-dancing couple, and other maraca-shaking performances. Candela La Brea provided perfect urban-chic setting, lit with a moody green glow which matched the palm-inspired décor from We Crush Events throughout the space.
Virgin Launch Party for Virgin Voyages
Virgin Voyages, the cruise line of Virgin Group, hosted a press conference and high-tea event at the stunning ASPIRE at One World Observatory. Empire Entertainment filled the sky-high venue with the brand’s colorful tones, beautifully complementing the astounding New York City views that the space offers. White and lucite furniture added a crisp, clean look to the business event while BOTANICA INC ‘s island-inspired hibiscus florals provided vacation flair. Lighting from LEVY | NYC and staging by Wizard Studios further elevated the 102nd floor event. Guests enjoyed lemon-infused tea, mini sandwiches, and scones while listening to the company’s panel, including the business mogul and Virgin founder, Richard Branson.
Chic décor items were provided by the teams from Geo Events, Party Rental Ltd., and The Factory NYC , while Luxe Event Rentals, High Style Rentals, CORT Event Furnishings, Chicago and Taylor Creative Inc. curated the modern furniture — resulting in the perfect fun aesthetic to announce a new way to travel.
SpaceX Futuristic Corporate Event
SpaceX hosted a corporate event in Washington, D.C., and Elon Musk’s latest business venture definitely lived up to our expectations. The event, as designed and planned by Evoke Design & Creative, was everything futuristic — which is very on brand for the famous forward thinker — filled with robots, astronaut entertainers, modern lighting, and video games projected on the neutral venue’s walls. “Space Invaders Extreme” was the official event theme, ironically tying back to the company’s mission of designing and manufacturing advanced rockets and spacecrafts. MBK Photography beautifully captured the innovative fun.
Adobe’s 3-Day Creativity Conference
Adobe hosted its annual 3-day creativity conference — Adobe Max — this past year in Los Angeles at the Expo Park and the Banc of California Stadium. More than 14,000 creatives gathered for workshops, keynote speakers, best practice sharing, and one of the most impressive catering feats to date. Wolfgang Puck Catering of Los Angeles put their expertise and creativity to the test by offering creative fare beautifully presented at the large gathering, and the hard work paid off. Twenty-one chefs collaborated on the event’s menu, bringing different cultures and dishes to the table; some menu highlights included gnocchetti di Sardi “Mac N Cheese” and Vietnamese Banh Mi. The celebration had not one, but three different themes from the planning team at SO Events — each with its own environmental and culinary experience. Our editor had the honor of attending this mouthwatering bash, which you can read more about here.
McDonald’s Product Launch in Malaysia
McDonald’s worked with Gravel Experiential to take the classic winter wonderland theme to the next level — and we’re lovin’ it. The famed fast food brand hosted an event at a mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where the pros from Magic Snow installed a large-scale snow hill for families to sled down. McDonald’s Director of Global Marketing shared this event was apart of their marketing goal to “drive new audiences and connect with them online,” knowing this Kardashian-style installation would go viral. Ronald McDonald himself attended this immersive experience, where he took photos with fans and even had a go down the hill.
Allstate College Football Playoffs Party
Allstate’s annual Party at the Playoff event is an exclusive sports soirée before the College Football Playoff National Championship. This San Jose bash at The Glasshouse was a neon spectacular, complete with an illuminated entryway, furniture, and multiple bars. Other neon details included graphic designs sweeping the venue’s walls, featuring different logos, players, and footballs in shades of pink, orange, and other bright tones. ESPN branding was all around, offering plenty of photo ops for athletes, managers, and fans alike. Handheld hors d’oeuvres by M Culinary Concepts were a fan favorite, including personal Chinese takeout boxes, tacos, mini hamburgers, and snack sized açai bowls.
Netflix’s Emmys Event
Nodding to the streaming service’s sleek design, this Netflix event for the Emmys was black, red, and modern all over. Swisher Productions incorporated moody details such as dark carpeting, draping, and furniture that set the scene for a swanky evening of drinks and dining. Dramatic designs caught guests eye from the start, with a dark hallway entrance into NeueHouse, Hollywood donning the brand’s logo in its iconic red. Inside, an all red room was both striking and sleek, with red mood lighting and a tented ceiling from Town & Country Rentals full of suspended red ribbons.
Microsoft Conference in Chicago
Microsoft’s Chicago conference was everything you would expect from the massive technology corporation. Total Event Resources planned the event for over 15,000 guests, while Kehoe Designs transformed McCormick Place into a vibrant experience for all. Edward Fox Photography & Video captured attendees gathered at the conference’s closing night party, which was filled with interactive games and stations from Record-A-Hit Entertainment, including a life-sized chess board and Operation game and even an adult-approved bouncy house. Other competitive events included ping pong and air hockey tournaments. A Blues Brothers imitation band, provided by Impulse Talent Group, had the less competitive guests on the dance floor all night long, and we can’t forget the exquisite catering from Sabor and Toque + Bottle.
Spotify’s Holiday Party
Spotify’s holiday party was sure to be a spectable of music, and it was just that. The event celebrated a slew of music genres within different event spaces at Avant Gardner, including a Blue Punk Rock Bodega, Red Soul Hair Salon, Green Funk Laundromat, and Red Trap Diner. The design and décor from TINSEL Experiential Design matched each space with a drive — or, walk — up diner offering classic American cuisine catered by Creative Edge Parties. Scott Clark Photo captured guests being treated to tarot card reading, a DJ-ed dance party, and Drag Bingo, lead by two drag queens donning red fringe dresses. The event’s overall design matched the bingo leaders, a tinsel-filled wonderland with tons of gold tinsel chandeliers sweeping the massive warehouse ceiling. BML Blackbird’s transformative lighting design, along with rentals from Taylor Creative Inc., Luxe Event Rentals, and Party Rental Ltd elevated the affair further.
TurboTax Blogger Brunch
Who knew tax could be so trendy? TurboTax surprised us with this influencer brunch event where they partnered with #WeAllGrow, which empowers Latina women with social influence. The Money & Mimosas-themed soirée was on brand for the tax service, yet very on trend, as exemplified by Tiffany Perry Photography’s photos. Level Events worked with White Sakuras, A1 Party, Baker Party Rentals, and Signature Party Rentals to incorporate branded lucite chairs, art deco styled table settings, white florals, and palm leaf décor into the airy space. We especially love the branded palm leaf photo op, as well as the succulent place cards holding personalized, engraved lucite cards with calligraphy from Exalted by Lauren. Happily Ever Etched’s signage and La Tavola Fine Linen‘s napkins were small but impactful details within the event design.
IBM After Party
Workday Rising is one of the largest multi-company corporate meetings, where all Workday customers, both potential and active, gather to learn of software best practices, industry trends, and more. Just like all celebrations, the real party, is at the afterparty. IBM hosted a projection mapped extravaganza which made guests feel as if they had entered the internet. Daring lighting designs from Luxe Productions illuminated the space at Virgin Hotel Chicago, along with a glow-in-the-dark painting performance.
Porsche Re-Opening Party
Sleek and chic was this grand Porsche re-opening in the northern suburbs of Chicago, and we expect nothing less from the luxury car brand. Guests were introduced to the event with on-theme invitations from Pulp & Ink. The focus upon arrival was on the modern cars, displayed in a colorful array. The rest of the event was spent enjoying Entertaining Company‘s impressive passed apps and cocktails. The event’s entrance featured a creative structure created out of white traffic cones courtesy of Kehoe Designs. Glass and mirrored décor details completed the minimalist event.
