Tuesday Top 5: Delectable Dessert Tables to Inspire Your Holiday Parties

Photographer: Lin & Jirsa Photography

You don’t have to get fancy to draw guests to dessert tables — pretty much add sugar and you’re good to go. But creating a table that’s a feast for the eyes as well as the mouth brings a celebration to a memorable close. We love how these sweets stations incorporate theming, florals, luxe details, and curated color palettes for displays that invite grazing and gazing. Check out how these event professionals use mirrors, towers, and creative signage (and a few who ditch tables altogether) for treats that are a treat to see.

1. Enticing Elevations

This dessert table draws the eye by swapping out a table for a sideboard and elevating sweets at different levels to create interest (just ask Kramer, levels are where it’s at!). Hosted at Chicago’s DL Loft space, Kesh Designs and A Perfect Event used rich metallics paired with bright white and deep blacks to create a luxe milestone birthday party. A towering cake boasts copper and gold accents and serves as the centerpiece for the mirror-backed dessert table. View the event to see how masks and more mirrors were incorporated into the photogenic celebration, captured by Carasco Photography.

2. Whimsical Winter Wonderland

This 30th birthday party put the “win” in winter with gorgeous frosty décor from Aramat Events that conjured a winter wonderland without the chill in the chic Mandarin Oriental New York. The room resembled a snow-blanketed forest and, rather than a single dessert table, the planners at Marcy Blum Associates created a fun guest flow with treat “trees” — glittery towers offering seasonal treats on snowy branches. Guests could wind between trees — and life-sized white elk — to delight in pumpkin, chocolate, and strawberry confections. Soft blue lighting cast twilight over the stylish celebration. View the event to see penguin ice sculptures, ice dancers, and how every element from the ceiling décor to the candle holder and chairs furthered the icy theme.

3. Let Them Eat Pie

Pie is as essential to Thanksgiving as cupid is to Valentine’s Day. But when it comes to large soirées, pies are not super party friendly, requiring cutting into wedges then balancing on plates. The I Like Pie Bake Shop solves the pie problem by shrinking the treat down to bite-size while keeping its signature shape and yummy flavor. The expert planners at The Lynden Lane Company paired an all-pie sweets table with bubbly for this “blooms and bellinis” corporate event in Laguna Beach, California, complete with fun signage. Guests sampled pastries in bright flavors like mixed berry and dark chocolate. View the event to see how the décor team from Enticing Tables curated boho chic elements and Keith J Laverty conjured arches and installations of pink blooms to create a rosy celebration.

4. Candlelit Confections

This corporate holiday party from the team at Jenny Chang brought cabin chill to warm LA. The Colony House proved the perfect setting for the “winter and whiskey” themed celebration, with natural wood elements evoking aprés ski moments. The organic frosty vibe extended to the raw wood table displaying desserts on icy marble slabs, warmed by dreamy candlelight. Isaiah & Taylor Photography beautifully captured the spread that featured fall favorites like mini pumpkin and pecan pies, and shooters of pumpkin pudding topped with snowy white whipped cream. View the event to see how the team used fur, leather, and wood (oh, and a live bunny!) to further the theme.

5. Eye Candy

Milestones are meant to be celebrated. This birthday party for a dessert-loving guest-of-honor took the celebration all the way to the sweets table with color-themed treats from Sweet Soirees and a wow-worthy cake dripping gold from Alliance Bakery. Sweet Soirees curated a beautiful backdrop for the dessert spread with oversized ivory and peach paper blooms. The sweets themselves somehow managed to carry the gold and cream floral palette of the Chicago celebration. Creamy textured linens, alabaster silk bows, and cupcakes wrapped in gold make for a beautiful mouth-watering display. View the event to see every little luxe dessert detail.
