Tuesday Top 5: The Power of Pink

Photographer: KLK Photography

For this week’s Tuesday Top 5 — where we pause to marvel and share a specific element, image, or detail from events we love — we’re focused on glamorous pink events.

In honor of October’s status as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (an annual international health campaign organized by major breast cancer charities), we’re highlighting events that are more than just pretty in pink — they’re chic in pink! Increasingly, women are reclaiming the femininity of pink as a statement of solidarity, and these girl-power parties prove that ladies know how to celebrate in style, with hues ranging from watermelon to taffy, salmon to magenta. Each party featured here celebrates a milestone in a woman’s life: a first birthday party, sweet 16 soirée, milestone 50th, two beautiful bridal showers.

And if you’re interested in donating to fund breast cancer research, check out this USA Today article on where to give.

1. Coral Cocktails for the Bride

This pre-marital celebration, designed and coordinated by Sonia Sharma Events, utilized pink theming everywhere from the party-perfect décor to the delectable nibbles. Bloombox Designs curated a gorgeous display of pink peonies in shades as light as lemonade and as vibrant as punch. The space, in The Culver City Hotel, offered a beautiful contrast to the sweet tones with raw wood tables, checkered marble floors, and dark paneling. Photographer, Caroline Tran, captured the dramatic spread as well as lovely details. White birdcage installations sported tiny pink birds, which mirrored the invitations featuring lovebirds in honor of the bride-to-be’s impending nuptials. Guests enjoyed pink cocktails (of course!) garnished with eye-catching dragonfruit, which naturally carried the color motif, and took home homemade s’mores kits.

2. Celebrating 50 with Champagne Dreams

This milestone birthday party from the design/décor/floral team at Debbie’s Designs was inspired by Lisa Vanderpump’s Diamond & Rosé Party. The luncheon featured all shades of pink in lush blooms that lined the luxe mirrored tables and on the ombré floral wall — a perfect backdrop for the imminently Instagrammable swing roped in greenery, as captured by photographer, Ellen Marc. Friends and family were welcomed by a champagne bar that included fresh juices for custom blending and pretty pink garnishes like raspberries and edible flowers. The reveling took place under a chic white draped tent made even more glam with crystal chandeliers and candleholders and gold accents galore. We love the sweet personal touches like corks next to a sign encouraging guests to “Leave a note of congratulations on this bubbly libation!”

3. French-Country Chic Sweet 16

This 16th birthday celebration, designed by Ruth Ridgeway Designs, featured baby soft pink elements amid all-grown-up chic décor and a delectable menu from Marcia Selden Catering & Events. The outdoor event was the epitome of rustic charm with raw wood tables and candlesticks paired with cozy chic lounge areas sporting glam fur pillows, vintage rugs, and mirrored and gold accents for a decidedly French feel. Ridgeway’s team curated tablescapes with florals in shades from cream to fuchsia — hydrangeas and roses accented by pops of greenery. Photographer Pamela Einarsen captured every little sweet detail like the all-pink cake with on-trend metallic dripped icing and varied taffy-hued linens adding texture and pattern to the dessert tables.

4. Flamingo-Inspired Tea Party

This bridal shower, designed, concepted, and styled by Design Plan Play, featured a proper tea party theme with a fun dash of flamingo. Taking its palette from the bride-to-be’s favorite — the flamingo — this party was chic in pink with a dessert table and balloon installations that wowed. Blush shades appeared on florals from Atifiori, balloons from Fiestas Depot, and treats from Ohh My Sweetness. The pink hues popped against the all-white backdrop, offering a luxe, serene vibe. Just like any great tea party, this one took its sweets seriously, with not one, or two, but three cakes, the largest of which was suspended on a swing above the dessert table which also held iced floral doughnuts, pink chocolate-dipped strawberries, flamingo macarons, and perfect petit fours. Acrylic cane chairs provided sight lines to the gorgeous table outfitted with arrangements of garden roses and a delicate paper floral runner. Other glam, feminine touches included a white tulle table skirt, and balloon garlands accented with paper florals from Luv and Design.

5. Pink Parisian 1st Birthday Party

Soft blush tones with accents of mint and lavender created a soft, sweet palette for this first birthday party designed by Aliana Events. Guests were greeted by performers in elaborate Marie Antoinette-style gowns adorned with fresh florals as well as another in a memorable white swan ensemble. Pink parasols dripping in breathtaking florals from Celio’s Design offered lovely shade at tables for friends and family. Alternating pink and white chairs from Revelry Event Designers seated guests at gold-accented regal place settings on tables featuring lush floral centerpieces. Meanwhile a Parisian-style custom perfume station offered several fragrances in petite bottles labeled with the guest-of-honor’s name. A grand pergola offered a pretty picture spot, draped in La Tavola linens and furnished with French antiques perfect for perching. KLK Photography captured every thoughtful detail and loving expression.
