Tuesday Top 5: Winter Soirées that Sleigh
Winter is a beautiful time of year — especially when viewed from a nice, cozy indoor spot. Images like bare branches, twinkle lights shining through snow, and swirling flakes against a blue-gray sky have inspired everything from literature to fashion. We’ve rounded up a few of our favorite events with décor and winter color schemes that turned a seasonal influence into stunning celebrations.
1. Married & Bright
Luxe and glamorous, this wedding from Michelle Durpetti Events warmed up winter with flickering candlelight and elegant chandeliers casting a lovely glow on every gorgeous detail at the University Club of Chicago. We love how Erin McDonald Co. outfitted the stately space with evergreen boughs for a holiday touch (and heavenly scent), accented by puffs of ivory florals like snow nestled on branches. Greenery runners held frosted apples and pears, further evoking the season, while guests kept warm and cozy at tables clothed in winter white for a gorgeous, classic affair captured by Collin Pierson Photography.
2. Cozy Corporate Cabin
This Jenny Chang-planned corporate party was set in the perfect space, The Colony House in Los Angeles, to impart a posh winter cabin feel. White seats covered with dark, cozy furs pulled up to tables drenched in white candles of all sizes offering a fireside kind of vibe. Simple, yet chic, décor included towering branches in clear vases and gray pelt placemats, which brought texture and luxury to each table. Guests were well cared for with a decked-out dessert table featuring bite-sized versions of holiday favorites like pumpkin pie and pecan tarts, as well as mini gift crates at each seat with Spanish sparkling wine, craft chocolate, and more from Salt & Pepper Co.
3. From Jingle to Wedding Bells
An entrance of arched chic white branches strung with mini lights set an upscale festive feel for this stylish engagement party, held at a private residence in New York. Interesting touches included florals displayed on wood slices, roses hung upside down, and a “chandelier” conjured from crystals and flowers from Atlas Floral Decorators. We adore how Sonal J. Shah Event Consultants ensured guest comfort with thoughtful touches like fur throws, outdoor heaters, and, best of all, fuzzy slippers in all sizes. Salwa Photography captured the stunning city view and smoky twilight sky as well as guests against a custom backdrop composed of rich red blooms.
4. Baby, It’s Cold Inside
Chicago knows winter all too well, and this snowy Bat Mitzvah celebration from Designer Event Chicago captures the most magical parts of the season. Dreamy blue lighting evoked an icy evening, while projections added snow with flurries of flakes swirling the Lakeshore Country Club space. We are swooning over how HMR Designs outfitted tables with frosted glass candleholders and bright puffs of white hydrangeas like snowballs, while mirrored tables evoked iced-over lakes. Romy Modlin Photography beautifully captured every glamorous detail and tender interaction.
5. Aprés-Ski Without the Ski
Aprés-ski themes don’t get more fun than this San Francisco holiday party from the planners at All Set. They turned a lounge into a lodge for the corporate affair with skis leaning against the wood walls, cozy leather seating draped with tartan blankets, and an oversized antler chandelier. Lighting from Luxe Productions played a major role in the transformation with projections of bare winter branches on the wall and blue lit snowflakes on the packed dance floor. We love clever touches like sushi from Foxtail Catering served on skis and a themed photo spot from Two Dudes Photo that had a winter scene backdrop and all of the ski equipment and fake snowballs necessary for a fun pic.
