We are Matt and Stevi Savage, a husband and wife photography team specializing in weddings in and around the Chicago area. We founded our business shortly after marrying in 2008. Inspiration for the name Averyhouse came from the early 1900s American modern painter, Milton Avery. We were moved by his poetic use of color and innovative style and have always hoped that these same elements would be translated through our work as we photograph our clients’ most important milestones and memories. We define our style as bright, airy, natural, romantic, effortless, and authentic; the perfect balance of photojournalism and editorial. We believe in creating images that capture the essence of a moment so that they feel both authentic and candid. We do this by finding the right light in the right location and then setting our couples in motion. We aim to photograph the feeling of what is unfolding between them rather than trying to always be technically perfect (although, we can do that part equally as well)! We want our images to feel dynamic versus static and fun but not cheesy. Because we began as film photographers we still implement that simple approach even while using digital techniques which now allow us an even wider range of flexibility. We are passionate about creating genuine, heartfelt photos and are excited to work with and serve you during your next special event!
