Bean Counter Bakery

Bean Counter Bakery Cafe was established in 1998 by current owner and founder Alice Lombardi out of a licensed kitchen in her home. At the time, she sold her mouthwatering desserts to local businesses in the Worcester area. Her business expanded rapidly as word spread throughout the neighborhood about how well her creations were received. Her first restaurant, which she opened in 2001 on Highland Street in Worcester, Massachusetts, received assistance from the local community. Soon after, she expanded her locations to include her Shrewsbury Café. There, she was able to devote more of her time and energy to creating award-winning wedding cakes. The doors to the new Bean Counter Flagship Store on Grove Street in Worcester, Massachusetts, were opened in May of 2020. Over the course of the past two decades, the Bean Counter Family has expanded from a single-person operation based out of Alice's home to multiple locations across the country, each of which is staffed with our skilled bakers, decorators, and baristas. On the other hand, there are some things that have not changed at all. We have remained true to Alice's core values, which include desserts that are handmade from scratch every day using the finest ingredients – just like she did in her own kitchen at home. Our goal is to brighten the lives of those around us, whether it be through the preparation of a deliciously brewed cup of coffee or a stunning wedding cake on the most important day of a person's life. As part of our mission, we have also made it a priority to give back to the community that has been so instrumental in getting us to the point where we are now. Today, Bean Counter Bakery Café is known for its exquisite wedding cakes, which are not only delectable but also exquisitely decorated; any occasion cakes and cupcakes; fine desserts; and premier coffee. From Worcester to Madagascar and Belgium, we search far and wide for the most exquisite regional and international ingredients. In addition, for the enjoyment of you and your family, we offer a selection of gluten-free and vegan cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other sweets from our menu.
