Shea Rose

I am currently a student of African Healing Dance as well as Zen Buddhism. I try to compose one poem every day, and some of my favorite things are baby rottweilers, pompon dahlias, and clothespins. Throughout the course of my career, I have been bestowed with a variety of titles, including that of singer, composer, fashion icon, and music curator, to name just a few. The topics of identity, self-acceptance, and change are explored in my music, which is influenced by soul, hip hop, rock, and folk. A SESAC National Performance Activity Award and many Boston Music Awards are among the musical accolades I've received. I am one of the fortunate individuals who have been awarded the renowned Abe Olman Scholarship from the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Both The Mosaic Project and Money Jungle: Provocative in Blue, jazz albums produced by percussionist Terri Lyne Carrington and both winners of the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Album, include me as a featured songwriter and performer on their respective tracks.
