The Goddess and Grocer

Two-thirds rock 'n' roll, one-third Chicago, and one-third snarky Australian. The Goddess and Grocer isn't your typical neighborhood hangout. Owner Debbie Sharpe opened her first Goddess and Grocer in the creative, edgy Bucktown district of Chicago in 2005, inspired by the melting pot of delis and markets in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. After touring and cooking for Rod Stewart, Tina Turner, and The Rolling Stones for several years, she fell in love with Chicago during a Paul McCartney tour stop and immediately stepped off the crew bus and stayed. The Goddess and Grocer's globally inspired cuisine seeks to offer and promote a variety of tastes and flavors from around the world. We attempt to pick the greatest ingredients and offer them in unusual but approachable meals, so you can find your favorite classic cuisine. We provide a large selection of classic and creative sandwiches, as well as a colorful array of freshly cooked soups and a salad bar with crunchy veggies, grains, cheeses, and proteins. We also have a changing range of ready-to-heat chef-cooked dishes and a variety of tasty prepared salads with house-made dressings. Our iconic Rainbow Cake, as well as many of the desserts and delicacies on display in our stores and distributed nationwide, are all made in our own bakery. Our Catering menu, which has its roots in backstage catering for the world's biggest musicians, offers a wonderful selection of classic and globally influenced meals that have been carefully picked to meet your specific requirements. Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, or just because, we adore curating bespoke Gift Baskets for you. The grocery section is as daring, with a carefully curated variety of artisan charcuterie and cheeses, smoked salmon, olives, pasta and pasta sauces, chips, crackers, and snacks, as well as a concentration on women-made items and critically acclaimed small enterprises. The Goddess and Grocer has it all, including a sommelier-curated range of boutique wines, beer, and spirits. The Goddess and Grocer is more than simply a location to buy a wonderful bite or a gift; it's also involved in our Chicago communities and local and national organizations that share our ideals. In addition to hosting events, private functions, live music, craft beer releases, and more, our stores in Gold Coast, River North, and Bucktown, as well as the West Loop, serve as neighborhood watering places.
