Since 1972, Gorton has been proud to enrich the lives of residents through cultural arts, education and charitable service. Today, Gorton is one of only a few privately-funded community centers in the United States and serves as a unique partnership between community volunteers and The City of Lake Forest. Gorton Community Center, a private nonprofit 501c3 organization, relies on the generosity of area residents and business to support building improvements, programs and services which are offered in the historic building owned by the City of Lake Forest.

With a variety of rooms and event spaces and unique layout, hosts of events at Stan Mansion are able to choose a room that would best fit the type of event. The ballrooms at Stan Mansion can accommodate up to 300 people each and there is a recently renovated bar and lounge for guests to explore. Literally meaning "branch," the frasca was identified by a wreath of branches hanging over a farmhouse door signifying the sale of food and wine within. Often attached to a winery, the frasca provided a pleasant and informal gathering place for family and friends to share a meal, a bottle of wine and warm hospitality.
