Often, when couples book their wedding and ceremony on this bird sanctuary's private estate on the Chesapeake Bay, they will have the opportunity to witness many of the resident birds and animals such as bald eagles, foxes, songbirds, and monarch butterflies flying by as they exchange their vows on the grounds of this bird sanctuary. Slade Run Farm, the newest and most upscale wedding venue in Maryland, is situated on 60 rolling acres of farmland. Our picturesque, rural getaway at Slade Run provides a stunning backdrop to your enchanting day, complete with young goats and horses roaming our pastures. The venue is about 25 minutes from Baltimore and less than an hour from Washington, DC. Site visits are scheduled in advance ONLY. The general population cannot visit Slade Run Farm. Woodend Sanctuary & Mansion
Woodend Sanctuary & Mansion is an elegant yet relaxed 40-acre private property located 9 miles from downtown DC. The venue comprises the historic Mansion, a climate-controlled tented terrace (Apr-Nov), and surrounding lawns. The Hemlock Grove is one of the most unique outdoor ceremony areas in the entire DC region. Check out lots of photos and videos on social media at woodendsanctuary. The tented terrace is the backup plan for your ceremony in case of inclement weather and can accommodate all your guests. During the winter months, our historic Mansion is ideal for receptions, holiday parties, corporate events, and so much more. There is no sales tax. BYO alcohol, no corkage. Part of the rental fee for contracts of 8 hours or more is considered a donation to Nature Forward and is tax-deductible. They will return after last call and refund you for anything that was unopened. This location, which is not far from Sugarloaf Mountain, serves as a retreat as well as a magical backdrop for couples who want to exchange vows before the mountain. It is a unique and memorable location for wedding celebrations. Comus Farm has a long and illustrious history, which adds to the allure of the location. The farm, originally used as a dairy farm, was in the same family for generations until 2019. The farmhouse was built in the late 1800's, rebuilt in 1921.
