  Historic Stranahan House is an all-outdoor location that is excellent for a range of special events and corporate activities. Located along the New River, right off Las Olas Boulevard, in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. The museum is close to a number of hotels, as well as the beach, the airport, and the seaport. The Stranahan House is the repository for the history of a family, a home, and the founding of a city. It was erected in 1901 by Frank Stranahan, who is widely regarded as Fort Lauderdale's founding father, and his wife Ivy Cromartie Stranahan, who was the area's first schoolteacher. Located in Broward County, it is the oldest surviving structure in the county, and it has functioned as a trading post, post office, town hall, and residence for the Stranahans.
