The site boasts many of its original features, most notably the century-old textured warehouse walls and brick-lined 110' long entrance & promenade, gorgeous skylit warehouses with a 37-foot high clerestory of windows, a 70-foot smokestack towering over Flushing Avenue, a freight elevator with original gear room, and a wrought-iron balcony and fire escape opening onto a brick-lined courtyard. The 1896 with its multiple maze of interconnected and towering warehouses and breakout rooms, both indoor and out, serve as a raw canvas for anything from a stunning Wedding to shape shifting Immersive & Interactive Events and Brand launches, raucous live Concerts blazing til dawn to mud-slinging Fashion Shows and Carnival-themed Birthday bashes. The capacity taps at 274 without permit but swells up to 1200 with a TPA. Positioned inside the North Brooklyn Industrial Business Zone in Bushwick, our parties feel on the edge of nowhere but turn the corner and you hit a dozen taco stands and the Jefferson L. Our vision for this multi-purpose 26,000 square foot filming and event location presented an opportunity to protect this historic block of buildings from the fate of over-development and to preserve it for the arts. What began as a local outreach effort distributing meals and hygiene kits has quickly grown into a vital safety net for thousands across the city. Our work centers around three core service categories: Crisis Support & Stabilization – Housing assistance, harm reduction outreach, daily meals, and essential goods for individuals navigating homelessness, addiction, or acute need. - Health & Wellness – Trauma-informed mental health services, overdose prevention education, and a safe space for healing, rest, and community. - Empowerment & Opportunity – Job readiness programs, structured workshops, digital access, and referrals to long-term care, housing, and employment partners. We work with a deeply diverse and resilient community—primarily Black and Latinx New Yorkers—many of whom are immigrants, LGBTQ+ individuals, elders, or single parents facing multiple systemic barriers. To date, we’ve registered over 2,700 registered members. Our approach is holistic, trauma-informed, and rooted in lived experience. Our staff and volunteers are often members of the very communities we serve, allowing us to provide care that is not only accessible but deeply resonant. As part of our current fundraising efforts to promote our non-profit, we are renting out our Community Center for events. Our large, open space is perfect for a variety of occasions.
