Inspired by a trip to Tuscany, The Vineyard at Florence began as a working vineyard on the gently sloped hills of Florence, Texas, and grew into a boutique hotel and resort with a winery, restaurant, day spa, and private event spaces. Its main building, Villa Firenze, was originally built in New York State around 1850 using timber-frame construction, then carefully transported to the property and restored; the surrounding buildings were designed in the same old Italian style, with tile roofs and warm exterior tones. The resort produces its own wines on-site, earning gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Rodeo Uncorked San Antonio International Wine Competition from 2021 through 2024. Casa Rio has stood on the San Antonio River Walk since 1946, when it became the first restaurant to open its doors along the river. The building itself is a Spanish Colonial hacienda on land first granted in 1777 by the King of Spain, with original thick rock walls, cedar lintels, and a working fireplace. Now in its fourth generation of family ownership under Los Leones, Casa Rio helped shape the River Walk's early character, from its colorful riverside umbrellas to its river barges. Chef Jacques Fox was born in the North African city of "Sidi-Bel-Abbes" and raised in France by his Polish grandparents. Even before graduating from high school, Chef Jacques Fox demonstrated an early aptitude for cooking. Following high school, Chef Jacques enrolled in a two-year program at the College D'Enseignement Techniques in Tulle, France, to further his culinary education. When Chef Jacques graduated from his training program in 1975, he relocated to Paris, where he accepted his first chef position at Maison Prunier, a world-renowned seafood restaurant. In 1976, he joined Elitair Maxims, where he worked for four years before being promoted to executive chef.
