Hortus NYC was crafted to give every guest an individualized, unique experience. The restaurant’s first floor is centered around an open kitchen to create an extra ordinary dining atmosphere. We also have seating available at our Chef’s table for guests to gather and socialize intimately over amazing food and drinks. The second floor is where our main dining room is located. Here, you can order dishes with friends over good food, good drinks and conversations. Hortus is not just about great recipes and excellent ambiance. Design: The name Hortus, Latin for garden, reflects the emphasis on freshness, and the theme of the garden runs through the interior. Hortus is a garden of earthly and ethereal delights. The contemporary design is stylish and comfortable. Divided into four distinct areas, the first floor is dedicated to bar dining with an open kitchen and a Chef’s Table for intimate group dining and special tasting menus. The second floor contains a sun-lit lounge where waiting for a table with a view of the adjoining outdoor garden is a pleasure—and a perfect place to enjoy small plates and afternoon tea (beginning in Fall 2018). The garden dining area offers shade in the summer and will be enclosed for Winter. The main dining room, also on the second floor, greets you with hunter green walls, innovative lighting fixtures, silver-blue velvety chairs and cozy round banquets ideally suited to sharing food and conversation. The ceramic dishes in earthy tones of green, blue and gray, add another level of sophistication to the experience. Even the restrooms feel like a garden with verdant green living walls.

An Unrivaled Setting for Private Events Cipriani South Street at the Battery Maritime Building is the new home to New York’s most exciting and important gatherings. The renaissance of this magnificent architectural treasure was led by the internationally acclaimed design house of Thierry Despont, whose other well-known historical restoration projects include the Ritz Hotel in Paris, the Statue of Liberty, the Carlyle Hotel and the Woolworth Building in New York City among others. An abundance of unique details have been beautifully preserved throughout the building including the expansive patterned glass ceiling in the Great Hall, the Guastavino tile arches of the loggia, hundreds of mullioned glass windows, and exposed period ironwork. The second floor events complex includes a private arrival foyer and grand staircase, two separate pre-function rooms, and the 9,000 square foot Great Hall which accommodates up to 800 seated guests.
