Originally designed by Calvert Vaux, Tavern on the Green was built as a sheep fold in the 1880’s to house the 700 Southdown sheep that grazed in Central Park’s Sheep Meadow. Robert Moses transformed the building in to a restaurant in 1934, as part of his park renovation. Through the next few decades, Tavern underwent several changes in management, but the iconic view of the park, and the addition of a dance floor, outdoor seating, and lavish menu, kept prominent actors, musicians, and public figures coming back to the restaurant to dine, drink, and celebrate. After a hiatus starting in 2009, the city searched diligently for a new operator to reopen the iconic restaurant in 2013. The city selected current owners and restauranteurs Jim Caiola and David Salama, previously of Philadelphia, who would bring a fresh, welcoming approach to Tavern. The duo renovated the restaurant with inviting décor and wood paneling reminiscent of the original sheep fold, and, with a seasonal menu more reflective of Greater New York, reopened Tavern on the Green in April 2014.

The menu features fresh, seasonal vegetable small plates paired with larger fish and meat dishes designed to share. We combine the vibes of Tel Aviv with the flavors of Israel to introduce you to the North experience on the Upper West Side. We love hosting parties for groups of all sizes. Whatever the size or occasion, let’s have some good food & good times. For groups of 30+, we offer a PARTY UPSTAIRS, which is a buyout of our second floor private dining room. We'll serve our signature North Feast, but in your own private space.

As a jewel in the crown of Lincoln Center, the David H. Koch Theater features stunning architecture, magnificent examples of modern art and offers technically superior production facilities. The Promenade and adjoining lobby spaces of The David H. Koch Theater provide an elegant and distinctive location for hosting galas, receptions, and other events. The Promenade features a gold-leaf ceiling with large windows and a balcony facing the plaza of Lincoln Center. The venue features one of the largest interior event spaces in New York City. The Portico, an exterior terrace adjoining the Promenade overlooking the fountain, can be used as an additional seating area or as an extension of the party space. The auditorium seats 2,586 with a continental style configuration on the orchestra level and five Ring levels studded with “jewel” faceted lights. An immense spherical chandelier is the centerpiece of the ornately paneled gold ceiling.
