SSS Ranch Napa is one of the oldest ranches in Wine Country going back to an original Spanish land grant in the 1800’s. In 1958 the ranch was turned into a family resort making it the oldest operating resort in Wine Country. In 2012 the ranch was purchased by the current owners who fully renovated the property using architectural salvage collected from around the world. Their objective was to make you feel as if you are in your own private village on a hilltop in France. Because we only rented the property exclusively, you have your own private resort perfect for a destination wedding weekend. The estate can sleep up to 60 of your guests onsite in the two historic Victorians houses and the 14 chic cabins. The iconic ranch sits on a western facing ridge top surrounded by old growth Redwood, Walnut, Live Oak and Douglas Fir trees. From this location you will experience the best sunsets in Napa Valley. Though the property is in a pristine environment it is only 4 miles from the historic town of Calistoga. At SSS Ranch you can have your rehearsal dinner Friday night, ceremony and reception Saturday night, and brunch Sunday morning. You get the exclusive use of this magical property for 2 nights which includes: Reception area in our Event Barn and stone patios Ceremony site under a massive 175 year old Black Walnut tree Tables and chairs for up to 150 people at both the ceremony and reception sites Pool area, salt-water infinity hot tub, gym and private 12 acres Full commercial kitchen, outdoor pizza oven, and Argentine BBQ Given the private nature of the ranch, we host a limited number of events annually. Our in-season weekend fee is $45k for the exclusive use of the entire estate including the lodging for 60 people and up to 200 event guests. We have reduced this price to $35k for those weekends still available for 2024! Given that we are in the epicurean center of the Unted States, we allow you to choose your own food and alcohol. Established in 1882, Spottswoode Estate is distinguished by the pre-Prohibition Victorian home depicted on their wine label. Spottswoode was christened by Mrs. Albert Spotts in 1910 and later acquired by Mary and Jack Novak in 1972. Mary released Spottswoode’s first Cabernet Sauvignon in 1982, exactly one hundred years after the estate’s founding. Today, Mary’s daughter Beth Novak Milliken manages the winery, and her daughter Lindy Novak serves as the winery’s Marketing Ambassador. Every year Spottswoode releases an Estate Cabernet Sauvignon and an Estate Sauvignon Blanc. In addition, Spottswoode produces a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon called Lyndenhurst, a dual-appellation Spottswoode Sauvignon Blanc, and a limited-production Field Book Syrah. Committed to producing wines with integrity that faithfully reflect their grape origins, Spottswoode wines are especially known for their refined elegance, balance, and classic structure. Situated on the western edge of St. Helena at the foot of the Mayacamas mountains, the Spottswoode terroir is ideal for growing fine wine grapes. The alluvial clay loam from the Sulphur Creek fan provides superb drainage while cool maritime breezes passing through the gap between Spring Mountain and the Mayacamas range, allow the fruit to ripen slowly. Spottswoode's forty-two acres are planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon, with small blocks of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Sauvignon Blanc. They have farmed their grapes organically since 1985, and the vineyard was certified organic (CCOF) in 1992. The roles of winemaking and vineyard management are integrated at Spottswoode, and the individual attention given to each vineyard block contributes to the consistent quality and unique characteristics of their wines. The Estate has three historic buildings that were originally built circa 1884–1885. The Colonial Revival-style residence, with its famous “Spottswoode” arch over the stone pillar entry, is surrounded by formal gardens with plants that date back to the 1880s. The Victorian farmhouse serves as an office and tasting room, and the Kraft Cellar is a pre-Prohibition stone building where the Cabernet Sauvignon is barrel-aged. In 1999, Howard Backen designed the new winery in a style that honors the historic nature of our buildings. Spottswoode is among the first wineries to have adopted organics in the Napa Valley. They began farming our vineyard organically in 1985 and acquired California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) certification in 1992. Out of 96 design teams that entered, Mr. Graves was the winner of a 1984 architectural design competition in association with the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art to design the Clos Pegase winery. The portico is the entrance to the winery with its grandiose columns and open roof represents the integration of the winery structure and the natural environment in which it is located. This allusion to ancient, Mediterranean architecture also embodies the melding of indoors and outdoors. The Clos Pegase heritage garden emerged in the summer of 2015 as a commitment to water conservation and design. The project, in partnership with renowned San Francisco garden design company Flora Grubb Gardens, replaced water-thirsty lawns with a special collection of rare, drought-tolerant plants and trees.
