Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox opened in downtown Spokane on September 3, 1931, built by Fox West Coast Theaters as a 2,300-seat movie palace. Architect Robert Reamer, known for designing Yellowstone's Old Faithful Inn, gave the building its exuberant Art Deco style, and Hollywood designer Anthony Heinsbergen created the murals that still cover the lobby, mezzanine, and lounges. A full renovation reopened the Theater in November 2007, reconfiguring the building to add dressing rooms, an expanded lobby, and ADA upgrades, and reducing the house to roughly 1,600 seats as a mid-sized performing arts venue. The Theater is owned and operated by the nonprofit Spokane Symphony and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Spokane Register, and the Washington Heritage Register. Beyond its resident symphony and touring performances, the Theater hosts private events on its historic stage and in its surrounding lounges, accommodating up to 250 guests for a seated meal or 500 for a strolling reception. Weddings held there can include a hosted bar, dressing room suites for the wedding party, and a personalized message on the Theater's outside marquee.
