  In Athens, Texas, The Texan is a wedding venue. This old cinema theater has been restored to hold modern events while retaining some of its original architectural features. As two families become one, what formerly provided entertainment for folks in the 1950s can now host 21st-century celebrations. This structure has a total floor area of 5,00 square feet, with a 1,200 square foot mezzanine. This large space may be set up in a variety of ways to accommodate both small and lavish ceremonies, banquets, and receptions. The main hall features 100-year-old stone walls, towering ceilings, and a floor-to-ceiling glass pane that lets natural light in. A mezzanine on the second floor can be used for additional seats or dramatic entrances. This facility can seat 186-411 persons depending on the style of your event. When you book your special event at The Texan, their friendly staff will help you set up all of your rental equipment and decorations. 20 round, 15 rectangle, and 13 cocktail tables, 350 banquet chairs, three mobile bars, and a high-quality projection screen are included in the site's rental package. The brewery closed during Prohibition and later served as a cotton mill, ice factory, and auto repair shop before falling into disrepair; museum director Jack McGregor rediscovered the building in 1971, and philanthropist Nancy Brown Negley helped lead the effort to convert it. Following a $7.2 million renovation by Cambridge Seven Associates, the museum opened to the public in 1981. Today the museum spans more than twelve acres and holds nearly 30,000 works of art representing six continents and more than 5,000 years of human creativity. We are a wedding and events venue located in the heart of Austin, just northeast of downtown and fifteen minutes from the capital – seven acres of organic gardens, beautiful landscapes, and thoughtfully designed buildings. Barr Mansion captures the essence of contemporary, organic beauty – offering unparalleled settings, full service coordination and exceptional, farm-to-table cuisine. Our tale starts in 1898 when Tilly and William Braxton Barr bought 223 acres of land in Sprinkle, Texas, which contained a post office, churches, a school, and a train station. They then built our historic home for their family to live in. The community remained populated up until the 1930s until being eventually included into the expanding metropolis of Austin. During the century, the Barr family continued to live in the Mansion, but sadly it gradually fell into disrepair. I'd had the desire to restore a historic structure for my entire life, and when I first came across this site in 1981, I felt with all of my heart that it was the appropriate place to do it. When Austin started to learn about and share my love for this hidden jewel, the years of construction and labor that I had invested while raising my own family in the Mansion, transformed into a passionate life in the events sector. I initially prepared all of the food for the visitors myself, but as time went on, professional event staff was employed, and the area gradually grew into the magnificent three buildings and gourmet kitchen where we now host parties. Even though the Mansion has been a steadfast part of Texas history for more than a century, we didn't stop there. We added an 18th-century Artisan Ballroom to the property in 2000, having it brought piece by piece from New York because I knew Austin would enjoy the building's many large glass windows that give visitors the impression that they are outside while inside. When Christopher Columbus first came to America, some of the barn's timbers were still trees, giving the place even more historical significance. The farmhouse, our most recent addition to the property and a contemporary twist on an open-air pavilion, was completed in 2014. It gives visitors even more possibilities to enjoy the expansive grounds and gardens. I am incredibly proud of our history and where we have come from, and I am eager to share my life's work with you.

  As a result of our desire to be closer to our children and grandkids, we closed the doors of our long-standing San Antonio-based business, Steve Heflin Architect/Builder (www.steveheflinhomes.com), and relocated to the Ft Worth region in 2011. The idea of a commercial venture that would bring together our talents in design, construction, décor, and hospitality sparked our imaginations, and we began daydreaming and planning for it. Our 35 years of marriage, combined with a sprinkling of supernatural guidance, may have prompted the notion of developing a wedding/event venue that was distinct in both style and beauty for our clients. We discovered a 21-acre farm just outside of historic Weatherford, TX, while searching the Fort Worth countryside. Beautiful trees, natural springs, and pasture area are all part of this estate, which has been in the family for 115 years. We began collecting architectural elements such as 300+ year old doors, gables, mirrors, tables, rustic wagons, gates, and benches from Texas and Santa Fe, using the same expertise and attention to detail Steve used in designing beautiful custom homes. These elements will be used in both a Country Chapel and an Event Center, which will be completed in 2018. This is where the journey begins! Construction began when the land was purchased, the move was completed, the designs were drafted, and the road was built. The Brooks at Weatherford, a new community in Weatherford, is taking shape one step at a time. Even as we cherish the opportunity to be near to our children and grandchildren, we are reminded and assured that marriage is worth the effort of remaining together and, more importantly, worth celebrating. Not only do we intend to provide a lovely setting for celebrations, but also a location where people want to hang out and enjoy themselves.
