Our kitchen prepares everything in-house and the menu changes daily to reflect what's fresh & new each day. The menu features fresh, seasonal vegetable small plates paired with larger fish and meat dishes designed to share. We combine the vibes of Tel Aviv with the flavors of Israel to introduce you to the North experience on the Upper West Side. We love hosting parties for groups of all sizes. Whatever the size or occasion, let’s have some good food & good times. For groups of 30+, we offer a PARTY UPSTAIRS, which is a buyout of our second floor private dining room. We'll serve our signature North Feast, but in your own private space.

Merchants Cigar Bar, which opened in 1996, is a modern lounge with a midcentury design that takes visitors back in time. True to the era of the opulent Havana High Life, indoor smoking is permitted, fresh ingredients are used in cocktails, and music is played until the wee hours of the morning. The architecture and furnishings in merchants are appealing and genuine; every component is a fresh take on traditional design. Visitors descend a beautiful mahogany paneled staircase that is accented with brass, illuminated by diffused light, and features floor to ceiling bronze mirrors. Upon entering the lounge, visitors are greeted to the right by an opulent handcrafted brass bar, while couples and bigger groups are welcomed to the left by quaint tables and custom leather booths. Handmade Calico Wallpaper and lighting pieces from Triple Seven and Soho House are used to decorate the room. Originally designed by Calvert Vaux, Tavern on the Green was built as a sheep fold in the 1880’s to house the 700 Southdown sheep that grazed in Central Park’s Sheep Meadow. Robert Moses transformed the building in to a restaurant in 1934, as part of his park renovation. Through the next few decades, Tavern underwent several changes in management, but the iconic view of the park, and the addition of a dance floor, outdoor seating, and lavish menu, kept prominent actors, musicians, and public figures coming back to the restaurant to dine, drink, and celebrate. After a hiatus starting in 2009, the city searched diligently for a new operator to reopen the iconic restaurant in 2013. The city selected current owners and restauranteurs Jim Caiola and David Salama, previously of Philadelphia, who would bring a fresh, welcoming approach to Tavern. The duo renovated the restaurant with inviting décor and wood paneling reminiscent of the original sheep fold, and, with a seasonal menu more reflective of Greater New York, reopened Tavern on the Green in April 2014.
