The Norton Museum of Art’s newly renovated contemporary spaces, lush landscapes and gardens, and distinguished collections create an exceptional location and ambiance for any event. Whether you’re planning a corporate celebration, dream wedding, or important meeting, holding it at the Norton will provide you and your guests with a unique and authentic Palm Beach experience on top of sophisticated service and an inspiring venue. The Norton Museum of Art was founded in 1941 by Ralph Hubbard Norton and his wife Elizabeth Calhoun Norton. Norton was an industrialist who headed the Acme Steel Company in Chicago. He and his wife began collecting to decorate their home, but then he became interested in art for its own sake and formed a sizable collection of paintings and sculptures. In 1935, Mr. Norton semi-retired, and the couple began to spend more time in Palm Beach. They contemplated what to do with their art collection and eventually decided to found their own museum in West Palm Beach, to give South Florida its first such institution, and so The Norton Museum of Art was born. In 2013, seeing the need for more exhibition and education space, Norton Trustees decided to embark on a bold, visionary Museum expansion. Scheduled to re-open on February 9th of 2019, the expansion, featuring the Kenneth C. Griffin Building, includes: 12,000 square feet of new gallery space; a doubling of classroom space; a larger student exhibition space; a state-of-the art, 210-seat auditorium; a new store and restaurant; and a Great Hall serving as the Museum’s “living room.” The stunning new expansion space will serve as a gorgeous and memorable backdrop for any event or special occasion.

Throughout the late 1960s and early 1970s in large cities all over the United States, children invented a new art form that started with writing their names on walls in their neighborhoods. Local governments launched cleaning campaigns and mandated that young writers be arrested for their vandalism, but the movement could not be stopped. Unrelenting young people forged ahead at a feverish pace with creative innovations and inspired generations of new practitioners. In no time, the wall writings quickly developed to become more elaborate and decorative. Taking on unique and distinguishable signifiers like arrows, crowns and other innovations through design and color, this became the blueprint for tags, throw-ups, masterpieces, and the elaborate works seen today. Fifty years later, the Museum of Graffiti was formed to preserve graffiti’s history and celebrate its emergence in design, fashion, advertising, and galleries. The Museum experience includes an indoor exhibition space, eleven exterior murals, a fine art gallery, and a world-class gift shop stocked with limited edition merchandise and exclusive items from the world’s most talented graffiti artists.
