The gardens were built in 1931 by George F. and Stella Elkins Tyler as the formal landscape setting for their estate, Indian Council Rock, and draw their design from French and Italian garden traditions. Terraced lawns, stone walls and staircases, gravel pathways, fountains, and bronze sculptures give the grounds a park-like, treehouse-like setting surrounded by tall trees. The property offers three main spaces for events.
