This 1926 construction (previously known as the Vintage Gymnasium) was renovated to maintain its original charm. The hefty wood beams, which appear to be frozen in time, still contain the markings of students who ventured to climb up and scrawl their names in chalk. The Fieldhouse was originally a separate structure that was linked to the Crest Theatre's backstage section during renovation. The original backboards are still in place, even though the Fieldhouse is no longer used for athletic activities. The loft, which previously housed bleacher seating for the "away" teams, now serves as a place to sit or showcase items. The former locker rooms have been transformed into luxurious restrooms. The Fieldhouse has become a popular location for private and community gatherings, as well as other creative endeavors. Old School Square offers a unique, historic setting for any occasion — from weddings, receptions, birthdays, reunions and mitzvahs… to corporate events, banquets and seminars. I was completely unaware of the ways in which a single life event that occurred in our family would alter the path that the future would take for our ranch. To fast forward to the present day, my heart is brimming with joy as I reflect on the numerous weddings that we have been privileged to celebrate here over the years. The privilege of seeing couples take their relationships to the next level by exchanging their vows beneath the same ancient and massive oak tree that served as the setting for my daughter's wedding is wonderful in and of itself. But even many years after our couples have said their goodbyes and rode off into the sunset, one of my favorite things to do is watch them react to the arrival of their first child as a family. The joy and satisfaction people feel when they make significant life changes, such as buying their first house, changing careers, or getting a promotion! And most importantly, it brings me a great deal of joy to know that everything started right here and I get a lot of satisfaction from watching them enjoy their anniversaries year after year. Clark Plantation is a rustic-elegant event venue set on private grounds in Newberry, Florida, about 15 minutes west of Gainesville. The main structure spans more than 7,000 square feet and brings together a floor-to-ceiling fireplace, crystal chandeliers, white billowing drapes, and thousands of twinkling lights — a combination that gives the space equal footing for intimate gatherings and full-scale celebrations. The venue accommodates 50 to 250 guests across indoor and outdoor areas. Outside, mature pecan trees, a fire pit, and stone-paved walkways create a setting well suited to ceremonies, cocktail hours, and the kind of send-offs that linger in memory. Bridal and groom cottage dressing rooms are available on-site. Clark Plantation provides an in-house Events Director, Planner, and Coordinator for every event, and does not permit outside directors — guests and clients work directly with the venue team from planning through day-of execution. The oolite limestone barn and home are meticulously maintained and have been lovingly preserved in every aspect. The property is still today a working native plant nursery. There is no need to hire an outside planner as they will understand your vision and assist you with the planning and design of your big day. Also included is a Day Of Coordinator that will make your timeline, act as a personal concierge for you and your family members and manage all vendors throughout the event. You will also find included in their package the DJ/MC, valet parking, ceremony space including chairs and podium as well as all of the set up, breakdown and cleaning fees. Separately their in-house catering services are very customizable and include tables, chairs, china, floor length linens, napkins, flatware, plate chargers, servers etc. Small luxury and elopement weddings are trending now.
