The venue, which was built in 1926, was previously the house of one of Los Angeles' most well-known architects. The building's creative pedigree can be seen in the unique design characteristics throughout the site, which was later bought by Otis College of Art and Design. During the 40s and 50s, cooper refashioned itself to shine as LA.’s premier address for fashion industry showrooms – before there was a California mart or a new mart. And in the 90s, the cooper building anted up for the fashion district, working to persuade the LA city council to establish the city’s first business improvement district.
