It was built in 1876 by German immigrants during a time when horse drawn carriages, railroad tracks, and old saloons were still in use. Today, the house is one hundred and forty years old. The original homesteaders were the well-known Wunsche Brothers of Old Town Spring, who still live on the property. Originally known as "Oak Tree Manor," the historic structure sits on its original site on Spring Stuebner Road and is surrounded by century-old oak trees, some of which are more than two hundred years old. One Live Oak has qualified to be included in the Harris Country Tree Registry, and one Willow Oak has been recognized as a county-wide champion in its category by the Harris County Tree Commission. A living room and a master bedroom have been the only major additions to the main house in recent years, with the remaining rooms being renovated. The original wood has been preserved to the greatest extent possible. The grounds have recently been enhanced with the addition of a Gazebo, a swimming pool, and a reception hall. Numerous weddings have taken place under the shade of the two-hundred-year-old oak tree over the course of several generations. According to local legend, couples who tie the knot under this tree will be blessed with happiness, children, and, of course, a long-lasting relationship. As countless couples embark on the first few steps of their married lives, Oak Tree Manor and its majestic oaks continue to provide a picturesque backdrop for their wedding ceremonies.

As residents of Splendora, we believed that our small, gorgeous East Texas town lacked a distinctive attraction that would suit the wedding and event needs of our local and adjacent communities. We established Splendora Wedding and Event Center in response to this need. The need for an event hall that can host weddings of all sizes in our area has long been recognized, and couples in our area no longer have to travel an hour (or more) to the nearest large city. After discovering this lonely piece of property with the ideal-sized pond, we had visions of it being adorned with gorgeous, flowing fountains that would serve as a romantic background for the most unforgettable bridal/wedding scenes ever seen in the area. Beacon House is a 100-year-old building nestled in the heart of the Beacon Hill neighborhood, just north of downtown San Antonio. In 2017, The Park Community Church was generously gifted this charming building and renovated it to create a multi use space that is perfect for coworking, events, meetings, or seminars. Both coworkers and event rentals have access to kitchenettes on both floors of the building, free Wi-Fi, private meeting rooms, flexible large group spaces, virtual meeting capabilities, and audio/visual equipment. Beacon House is also the home to a suite of licensed professional counselors who welcome clients in a safe, private area of the building. We understand the importance of mental health but know that seeking counseling can sometimes be cost prohibitive. To ease this burden, we are proud to use a portion of the profits generated from coworking and event rental fees to create a scholarship fund that can be used to offset counseling costs.
