Open Gates Bed and Breakfast occupies a historic 1876 home on Vernon Square in Darien, Georgia — a coastal town known as the "Hidden Gem of the Golden Isles." The property sits one block from the waterfront, surrounded by century-old live oaks and magnolia trees, and is within walking distance of downtown Darien and its shrimp boat docks. The inn offers six named guest rooms and Haynes Cottage, along with a cypress-paneled library that doubles as a gathering space for intimate weddings, bridal showers, luncheons, and business meetings. For larger celebrations, the beautifully landscaped grounds accommodate up to 200 guests for weddings, elopements, and receptions. Culinary craft is central to the Open Gates experience. Chef Zach Rath — who trained formally in culinary arts and cooked aboard small cruise lines and private motor yachts — prepares a full gourmet breakfast each morning, with seasonal specialties such as the signature Darien Shrimp Delight.
