The chapel, on the outskirts of Texas Women's University, is a hidden sanctuary that has hosted weddings since September 1939, a few months before Eleanor Roosevelt's dedication. The exquisite internal stain glass windows complement the natural splendor that surrounds the Little Chapel. On saw-pierced and riveted brass lighting, and woodwork completed in beech, hand carved woodwork on the pews, the Little Chapel in-the-Woods' rich symbolism delicately conveys "Woman Ministering to Human Needs." Architect O'Neil Ford designed the Chapel, which is 90 feet long and 24 feet broad. During the Great Depression, it was built as a project of the National Youth Administration and dedicated by former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. The Little Chapel in the Woods is steeped in history, and every piece in the chapel is imbued with the aesthetic fingerprint of young women artists. The stone walls take on a charming blue tint as the sunshine filters through the stained glass windows, and the exterior is surrounded by magnificent green landscapes.   Union Springs is an East Texas wedding and event location. It is situated on 33 acres of land surrounded by magnificent woodlands. It gives the appearance of a rustic western horse barn, yet it also features modern facilities for brides. The barn is 5000 square feet and can comfortably seat 250 people. There are two covered porches with seating for another 65 people. A bride's dressing room with her own restroom and vanity space is available in the barn. There is also a separate dressing room for the groom. The unusual Dutch doors on the front of the barn provide a separate entrance for each dressing room. A catering kitchen is located adjacent to the buffet area. Your caterer can utilize the commercial refrigerator, warming cabinet, ice machine, and prep tables in the kitchen. The kitchen has a separate entrance for ease access. There are numerous special elements that make this venue unique for your event. Make an appointment to visit the facility and take a tour. For the past six years, I've wanted to find a location where I could plan and host weddings. I was raised in a preaching family and have been to more weddings than I can remember! Weddings are my favorite! It's one of the most memorable days in a young lady's life. Since she was a tiny girl, she has fantasized about, dreamed about, and planned for this moment. I wanted to create a space where a bride might realize her aspirations. That goal, I believe, has been met. The barn is rustic enough on the outside to have that Texas charm, yet it is finished on the inside to meet any wedding style. It is up to the bride to dress it up or leave it as is. I want to provide as much assistance to the brides as possible so that they can remember this time as one of pleasure, excitement, and joy with as little worry as possible. I've tried to add some unique touches to the barn that will make your special day even more memorable. One of my dreams has come true now that I have this venue.
