The facility reopened in October 2023 following a five-year closure, welcoming guests to a renovated 18-hole, par-70 championship course alongside a newly updated event center. Our History The Club at Castlewood traces its origins to the famous Hacienda del Pozo de Verona estate, which was built by George and Phoebe Hearst, the parents of publishing mogul William Randolph Hearst. From 1891 to 1919, Phoebe Hearst's Hacienda, created by Julia Morgan, served as her house and sanctuary. At "the house of hospitality." hosting parties and gatherings for up to 300 people was normal. In the 53 room mansion, the Hearst's reputation for throwing a grand party was certainly upheld. Local businessmen bought the land in 1924, and the mansion served as the clubhouse for the original Castlewood Country Club. The name was chosen because it matched Phoebe's home's wooded hills and castle like aspect. Private Events at The Club at Castlewood: There is no such thing as a huge plan or a little gathering. Sequoyah Country Club is a private, member-owned country club set in the Oakland hills of Northern California, tucked among redwoods and rolling terrain just outside the city. Founded in 1913 and housed in a Spanish Colonial-style clubhouse, the club offers a timeless setting for weddings, corporate gatherings, milestone celebrations, and private events of all kinds. Located at 4040 East Avenue in Livermore, California, the restaurant draws on the traditions of Italian home cooking — simple, honest recipes using fresh, sustainable ingredients and pasta made in-house. Three private banquet rooms accommodate a range of gatherings. The Barolo Room seats up to 50 guests, the Chianti Room offers space for up to 60 in a secluded setting behind the bar, and the Main Room — the largest of the three — accommodates up to 120 seated guests. Lone Tree Golf & Event Center has been a popular among Bay Area golfers since it opened its doors in 1934. The sloping topography, which lies at the foot of Mount Diablo State Park, affords amazing views of the surrounding Delta region. The course's layout combines ample landing zones that promote playability with fascinating green complexes that provide just the right amount of difficulty for players of all skill levels. The occasional errant tee shot may necessitate navigating mature Red Oaks, Cypress, Eucalyptus, and Ponderosa Pine trees that can be found in the rough portions of the course. Weddings & Events As a result of our magnificent event space, we can easily handle receptions of more than 300 guests without the difficulty of having some visitors sit outside on a patio, under a tent, or elsewhere.
