Before it became our beloved event venue, the historic Crystal Plaza was originally a residential mansion. The initial Livingston, New Jersey-based residence was built in the late 1800s by famed architect Stanford White, who was responsible for designing the Tiffany building on Fifth Avenue, the original Madison Square Garden complex and the arch at Washington Square Park in Manhattan, among other landmark structures. While the restored building has since been reincarnated as one of the leading wedding and event spaces in the tri-state area, it still maintains the feeling of its 19th century grandeur, making it a distinct and picturesque setting for special days of all kinds. Our impeccable, white-glove service begins the moment you arrive. Crystal Plaza hosts only one event at a time, ensuring that our dedicated team focuses singularly on you and your every need. Our two-story, state-of-the-art new home, designed by nationally recognized theater architects Auerbach Consultants, consists of a theater, a visual arts gallery, dressing rooms, a lobby, and office space in an adaptable-use facility. Our flexible theater has up to 97 seats (110 for a comedy configuration) and can be cleared to be used as an event venue for 200. Our lobby and gallery can hold up to 125. The venue comes equipped with state-of-the-art technical and production resources, a designated box office, 2 dressing rooms, a green room, and a top-notch administrative team to help bring your vision to life. Pioneer Works is a 501c3 non-profit that presents programs, public events, artist residencies, and classes — 85% of which are free and open to the public — across the disciplines of visual art, science, music, technology, and narrative arts. Pioneer Works offers unique, scalable spaces and a 20,000-square-foot garden that can accommodate a wide variety of events: from large-scale build outs, conferences and dinners, to film shoots, screenings and intimate receptions. Income generated by rentals goes directly back into supporting our programs, public events, artist residencies and classes. Rental fees ranging from $10,000 - $38,000 are daily rates for 8am–1am. Overages are subject to an additional hourly fee. Non-profit organizations receive a 20% discount off our standard rental pricing. Pioneer Works is a multi-functional space. An additional fee will apply to limit staff and residents access to the building around the event.
