Along 200 private acres of waterfront on Discovery Bay, between Sequim and Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula, orchards heavy with fruit and gardens give way to koi ponds shaded by weeping willows, lavender fields, and forested trails that lead down to private beach and lagoon access. Troll Haven, also known as Bandy Farms, is a working organic farm and event property that hosts weddings, gatherings, reunions, and retreats across these grounds, where animals roam freely and orchards yield apples, pears, figs, cherries, and other fruit sold seasonally from August through November. At the center of the property sits the Antique Barn Reception Hall, a fully modernized event space that pairs a casual, timber-framed atmosphere — exposed wood, massive beams, and a collection of antiques and artwork — with a powerful sound system and room for dancing. It seats up to 150 guests and holds a maximum capacity of 200, with an on-site kitchen, bridal suite, and groom's saloon supporting the reception. Couples can also exchange vows outdoors among the orchards, lavender fields, or along the waterfront backdrop of Discovery Bay before returning to the barn to celebrate. Guests who want to extend their stay can book one of four vacation rental homes on the property — the Gate Keeper's Castle, the Lodge House, Gardiner Beach Cottage, and Dragon's Keep — making Troll Haven a destination for events that stretch beyond a single day.

The Victorian-style inn was custom designed for its site, orienting its five guest suites toward sweeping ocean views. English perennial gardens front the property, planted with more than 10,000 plants across roughly 200 species; the gardens trace back to 1998, when the inn operated as BJ's Garden Gate, and have since been featured in Garden Design magazine. Each of the five suites — Victoria's Repose, Napoleon's Retreat, Marie Antoinette's Boudoir, Ludwig's Chamber, and Maria Theresa's Suite — pairs antique European furnishings and original artwork with a private bath, gas fireplace, and ocean view. Guests can book a single suite or take over the entire property. For weddings, couples exchange vows on the cliffside overlooking the water, framed by the surrounding cedar forest and gardens. Ceremonies typically accommodate 20 guests or fewer, with larger groups up to 50 arranged by request.

The building's character comes from its restoration: massive end-to-end wooden trusses held tight with steel brackets rise above an open floor of island fir. The main hall offers a 2,100-square-foot open floor plan that seats up to 120 guests and accommodates as many as 160, suiting weddings, concerts, workshops, conferences, and community celebrations alike. A full commercial kitchen is available to clients and caterers, and the space is equipped with a large drop-down screen, wireless microphones, and in-ceiling sound. Just outside, the Sunshine Plaza adds an outdoor gathering area with greenspace, seating, and the Tokitae Stage for open-air ceremonies and performances. • 1 Meeting Space

Set on land donated to the Lopez Island community in 1984, when Natalie Roush gave five acres in Lopez Village toward what would become a shared gathering place, the Lopez Center for Community and the Arts is owned and operated by the nonprofit Lopez Community Center Association, which formed in 1987 to carry the vision forward and, after years of fundraising that gained early momentum from seed funding provided by Andy Holland in 1994, opened the doors of its main facility to the community in October 1999. At the heart of the center is a multipurpose main hall, where a stage, hardwood floors, and a vintage Steinway piano support everything from theater and music productions to meetings, memorials, and fundraisers, while large sliding glass doors open the room to natural light and to the rolling lawn beyond. That lawn, together with a south-facing veranda and an outdoor pavilion built for the center's earliest seasonal concerts, gives weddings held here room to spread from an outdoor ceremony across the grounds into the hall for a reception seated at up to 200 place settings, a scale that has made the center known as the largest wedding venue on Lopez Island. A fully equipped kitchen, included with every rental, and technical packages ranging from a simple microphone and piano setup to full theatrical lighting and a live band system round out what the center can offer, all of it maintained by an all-volunteer Board of Trustees elected annually by the Lopez Island community whose gifts of land and labor built the place.

Jenne Farm With Whidbey Island Weddings

538 Engle Rd, Coupeville, WA 98239, USA
    • Spaces for 120 Guests

Built in 1908 by Edward Jenne, a German immigrant and Coupeville resident, the Jenne Farm cluster took shape as a house, barn, summer kitchen, workshop, and granary, all raised from a single barge-load of wood. Jenne grazed sheep and worked some of the highest per-acre wheat yields of his era on the land. The farm later passed out of the family, and in 2000 new owners purchased the property with the goal of preserving it as a working farm; by December 2002, Jenne Farm had become part of Ebey's Landing National Historic Reserve. Located one mile south of Coupeville and surrounded by 140 acres of crops, forest, and scrub, the property offers sweeping views of farmland, prairie, or water from every window and the wrap-around porch of the 1908 farmhouse. The grounds accommodate outdoor weddings and reunions for up to 125 guests, and the farmhouse itself — with four large bedrooms, two bathrooms, a dining room, fireplace room, and parlor — is available for multi-night wedding weekend stays as well as shorter vacation getaways.

Rosario Resort centers on the historic Moran Mansion, the anchor of a 30-acre waterfront property on Orcas Island in Washington's San Juan Islands. Robert Moran founded the resort in 1932, envisioning it as, in his words, "a wonderful place in which to forget one's troubles and worries and get back to Nature." Inside the Mansion, the Music Room's vaulted ceilings provide a setting for wedding ceremonies and intimate performances, and nearby, the circular Roundhouse Suite, originally built in 1913 as the Moran children's playhouse, perches on a rocky bluff above the marina. For larger gatherings, the Event Center looks out over Cascade Bay, while the waterfront lawn hosts outdoor ceremonies surrounded by island scenery. Guests arriving by water can dock at the resort's marina, which holds more than 36 slips and 8 mooring buoys, and two on-site restaurants, Harbor Bar & Grill and Blackfish Cafe, serve the property through the summer season. Lodging includes the waterside Cliffhouse Suite as well as Bayside, Harborside, and Hillside rooms, most positioned to capture views of Cascade Bay and the surrounding islands.

    • 1 Farm

Red Cedar Farm sits on Lofall Road in Poulsbo, Washington, a property Andrea and Gregg bought as a family retreat in 1987 and then, over the years, filled with more than a thousand trees, a pumpkin patch, a hardy kiwi orchard, and an antique shop built from Gregg's own collecting habit. Weddings came later: the farm began hosting events after 2009, inspired by a local venue, and held its first wedding in 2012. It still books no more than one event per day. The centerpiece is the Barn, a heated reception space converted from a former chicken house and carport that seats 150. Ceremonies move outdoors to the Arbor or, when the weather insists otherwise, under the Pergola. The bridal party dresses in a suite with its own building for bridesmaids; the groom gets a 130-year-old restored barn to himself. Guests circulate through the Terrace courtyard, warm up at the stone fire pit, or find their way to the Arcade, a room of more than fifteen vintage pinball machines dating to the 1950s through the early '70s. The grounds still function as a working farm, with goats and donkeys on hand for the Farm & Play Area, a catering kitchen, four ADA-accessible restrooms, and parking for 25 cars — anyone else takes the shuttle.
