It all started about six decades ago, when a young couple bought a piece of acreage deep in the Northeast Georgia Mountains. Cecil and Juanita Crumley decided to make their home there with unwavering confidence. They built a home and started a dairy farm on the property, where they raised their six children with love. Cecil and Juanita remained hopeful throughout their lives that their farm would be blessed with both rain and sunlight, allowing them to reap a bountiful harvest. There were good years and hard years, but their faith in each other and their love for one another never wavered. The parents chose to give a portion of the land to their children several years later out of love. The Venue at CeNita and CeNita Vineyards, Winery & Tasting Room are now located on that property. The spectacular event site was a labor of love for the Crumley children and their family, who wished to celebrate their hardworking and dedicated parents' legacy. The Powell Barn's Background Powell Barn & Events is a family-owned and operated special events location in the gorgeous North Georgia Mountains' foothills. Our event will take place on our private 200-acre horse farm, which features a unique mix of grazing pastures, breathtaking mountain views, and isolated forest trails. Momma and Papa Powell, their 6 children, and 11 grandchildren make up the Powell Family, a close-knit and friendly community of nearly 25 members. After all six Powell children exchanged vows on the gorgeous family land—each making it their own with the huge range of possibilities we offer with our two event sites—the family decided to create this business. The Barn can accommodate up to 130 guests and has a spectacular mountain view, whereas The Woods is located down a meandering walk among tall trees and lush ferns and is better suited for a smaller group of up to 75 people. The Barn is a wonderful place to visit. A rustic open-air barn setting with wandering grasslands, majestic mountain ranges, and breathtaking sunset views straight from our ceremony and reception locations. The Forest Nestled among lush ferns and towering oak trees is a private and whimsical forest ceremony site. Two creeks converge at the heart of the property, forming the backdrop for an outdoor ceremony site framed by mature trees, a hand-forged black metal gate, and a twisted laurel arbor. The newly renovated reception barn offers over 4,200 square feet of climate-controlled, mountain-modern interior space accommodating up to 180 seated guests, with the capacity to expand to 200 or more by utilizing the adjacent open-air pavilion. The pavilion adds 2,000 square feet of covered gathering space with scenic views of the surrounding fields and willows. The grape vines are still there, and we are in the process of reopening this once highly sought-after destination. The Ruins at Kellum Valley is a historic outdoor wedding venue nestled in the North Georgia mountains, about one hour north of Atlanta. The property traces its roots to the early 1900s, when Elizabeth Carnegie Kellum — niece of steel magnate Andrew Carnegie — purchased more than 1,000 acres to establish a working farm. A three-story stone dormitory and school built for underprivileged children burned in 1928, leaving behind the striking stone foundations and twin chimneys that now define the venue's landscape. Owner DeAnne Major acquired the land in 1996, cleared the ruins from overgrowth, and hosted the first wedding on the property in 2005. Since establishing The Ruins at Kellum Valley Weddings in 2006, the venue has hosted more than 450 all-inclusive celebrations. The property offers over ten distinct outdoor ceremony sites set among the historic ruins and mountain scenery. All-inclusive packages feature in-house gourmet catering, a three-tiered wedding cake, farm tables and chiavari chairs, full linen service, and a dedicated day-of coordinator.
