The Woodlea Clubhouse was once a Vanderbilt Mansion that was constructed in 1892 and held by Colonel Elliot Fitch Shephard. Colonel Shephard was the founder of the New York Bar Association as well as the proprietor of the journal Mail and Express. 1910 saw the purchase of the mansion by Frank Vanderlip and William Rockefeller. The following year, 1911, saw the establishment of the Sleepy Hollow Country Club by a board of directors that included John Jacob Astor IV, Cornelius Vanderbilt III, Edward Julius Berwind, and a number of other notable individuals. The Sleepy Hollow Country Club has seen several improvements and transformations throughout the course of its history, propelling it to the position of being one of the best-rated golf courses and country clubs not only in New York, but also in the United States. We provide a sophisticated location for events such as weddings, family get-togethers, holiday parties, and business meetings. The Belvedere Estate, situated on more than 25 acres in Westchester County, is a one-of-a-kind property. The estate consists of a large house and many smaller structures scattered over the grounds, all of which include excellent historical elements from the 1920s. A wooded region and cliff with views of the broad Hudson River and the Tappan Zee Bridge provide a range of lovely and peaceful vistas. The Belvedere was once part of Philipsburg Manor, a 90,000-acre property and one of America's richest landholdings, and was built in the 1910s. Dr. Philip Gillette Cole bought it in 1928 and renamed it Zeeview. It was built by Florence and Casper Whitney and purchased by Dr. Philip Gillette Cole in 1928. The home at Zeeview looked out over the huge Hudson River and the "Tappan Zee" with ease. The Coles erected the Agora House and the Studio on the land and displayed their significant collection of American Western art, which was ultimately moved to the Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The estate was purchased by Samuel Bronfman of the Seagrams Whiskey dynasty after Cole's death. After the Bronfmans' primary mansion in Toronto, the property was christened Belvedere. Belvedere became the headquarters of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification in 1972. The Bronxville Women's Club, Inc. occupies the Anna Lawrence Bisland House, a 1928 landmark in Bronxville, New York. Founded in 1925 and listed on both the Westchester County Inventory of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places, the clubhouse has served as a community gathering place for nearly a century. The club's Ballroom — described as the only midsize hall in lower Westchester — accommodates up to 165 guests and features a stage, making it well suited for weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, concerts, and private celebrations. It opens directly onto an outdoor patio and garden with vintage street lights and a working waterfall.
