And here we are again, back to the beginnings at Marcel, a first-rate steakhouse and bar by Ford Fry. Named after Marcel Cerdan, the iconic French fighter-romantic who endured ring rumbles, war, marriage, a famous affair with Edith Piaf (and could only be stopped from seeing his love when his plane crashed into a mountain), Marcel is a return to the days when people appreciated every moment, when dull care was forgotten, when love lingered over the best meals—including, pound-for-pound, the best steaks money can buy.

A sleek pre-function space with built in bar, sparkling chandeliers, three lounge groupings, polished concrete floors and a wall of windows is perfect for cocktail hour. Multiple sets of frosted French doors lead into a 15000-event space. Lush draping, included in the venue, soften and shrink the space and can provide a beautiful ceremony setting for up to 300 guests

Cooks & Soldiers draws its inspiration from the people and the cuisine of the Basque Country in Spain and France. The Spanish call it Pais Vasco; the Basque say Euskal Herria. Regardless of nomenclature, it stands for thousands of years of fierce independence, cultural autonomy, and unrivaled cuisine. Pintxos are the Basque answer to tapas. From the word for “thorn,” a Pintxo is traditionally served on bread, pierced with a toothpick. Pintxo Bars represent the casual, convivial aspect of Basque dining, where guests order for the table over a glass of Txakoli (crisp, slightly bubbly Basque wine) or tart Basque cider. Pintxo Bars are loud, vibrant and celebrate the joy of companionship and conversation over the formality of coursed dining. Cooks & Soldiers seeks to recreate this environment with our Pintxos Tradicionales, served on toast, and our Pintxos Especiales, composed expressions from our chefs. The Asador, on the other hand, is a wood-fired grill, elevating the simple yet divine combination of olive oil, salt, pepper, and smoke. At Cooks & Soldiers, our Asador is the centerpiece of our kitchen where whole meats and seafood are grilled over hot coals. These larger asador dishes are designed to be enjoyed communally, accompanied by a variety of fire roasted vegetable offerings.

In 1947 Italian born Arcito Castellucci married Sophia Zavanlagos, a girl from Sparta, Greece. Shortly after their youngest and only son, Federico II was born. As a young immigrant family with a strong entreprenuerial spirit, they opened a little restaurant in Pawtucket, Rhode Island called Archie’s Tavern. Sophia had grown up in the restaurant business and knew it well. Arcito had the cooking ability and the personal touch with the guests, and thus the original seed of Sugo was sewn. Even as a young child, Federico II, worked alongside his father at Archie’s learning the ins and outs of the restaurant business. Not too long after Federico started his own family, he found himself moving down to Atlanta to open a new restaurant with his wife and children called Sugo. An inspiring blend of unique family style dishes and sincere hospitality with an absolute dedication to sourcing the best local and sustainable ingredients, Sugo is a tribute to those who came before us. Now Sugo is in the hands of the next generation.
