Grace E. Simons Lodge is an outdoor event venue set within Elysian Park in Los Angeles — the city's oldest public park, established in 1889. The lodge is named in honor of Grace E. Simons, the journalist and activist who spent decades fighting to preserve the park as open green space. Situated along a picturesque creek with a small pond and a wooden footbridge, the property offers a tranquil, nature-surrounded setting in the heart of the city. The venue's centerpiece is its outdoor picnic pavilion, which seats up to 128 guests across 16 concrete tables, set against lush landscaping and views of the creek and pond. Founded in 1901 as the South Coast Yacht Club and renamed in 1920, the Los Angeles Yacht Club has been a cornerstone of Southern California sailing for more than a century. The club relocated in 1993 to its current home at Cabrillo Marina in San Pedro, where its 12,000-square-foot clubhouse sits alongside the harbor with views of the marina and Cabrillo Bay. The building houses an extensive library, trophy displays, ship models, and historic photographs tracing the club's history back to its founding year. The clubhouse includes the Angels Gate Bar and Bistro, a fully staffed dining facility serving members and their guests, as well as multiple rooms available for private catered events and receptions. The club's culinary team works with event hosts to customize menus for gatherings of various sizes. An additional outstation at Howland's Landing on Catalina Island offers seasonal moorings for members extending their time on the water. The Los Angeles Yacht Club is a charter member of the Southern California Yachting Association and serves a community of racers, cruisers, and sailors of all skill levels.
