The Edith Farnsworth House is a National Historic Landmark designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and completed in 1951 as a private weekend retreat along the Fox River in Plano, Illinois, approximately 58 miles southwest of Chicago. The 1,500-square-foot glass pavilion — elevated above the floodplain on white steel columns, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls on all sides — sits within a 62-acre estate of mature trees and landscaped riverfront grounds.
