Woodend Sanctuary & Mansion is an elegant yet relaxed 40-acre private property located 9 miles from downtown DC. The venue comprises the historic Mansion, a climate-controlled tented terrace (Apr-Nov), and surrounding lawns. The Hemlock Grove is one of the most unique outdoor ceremony areas in the entire DC region. Check out lots of photos and videos on social media at woodendsanctuary. The tented terrace is the backup plan for your ceremony in case of inclement weather and can accommodate all your guests. During the winter months, our historic Mansion is ideal for receptions, holiday parties, corporate events, and so much more. There is no sales tax. BYO alcohol, no corkage. Part of the rental fee for contracts of 8 hours or more is considered a donation to Nature Forward and is tax-deductible. Belmont Manor and Historic Park is a 68-acre historic estate in Elkridge, Maryland, operated by Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks. Built in 1738 as a private manor for Caleb and Priscilla Dorsey, the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Lawyers Hill Historic District. Over its nearly three centuries of history, the estate has passed through the stewardship of the Smithsonian Institution, the American Chemical Society, and Howard Community College before Howard County acquired it in 2012. The grounds encompass formal gardens, a picturesque aqua garden, rolling terrain, a pond, and a collection of historic structures including the Manor House, Carriage House, Cottage House, and a large barn. The signature outdoor reception tent — a 60x100 white peaked structure on a brick pad — accommodates up to 250 guests and includes gold chandeliers, perimeter lighting, an 18x24 dance floor, and gold chiavari chairs. The first floor of the Manor House offers an indoor option for up to 120 guests. Belmont welcomes weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, family reunions, corporate retreats, and other private events from mid-April through October, with select indoor events available year-round. Oliver's Carriage House is a historic event venue set in Columbia, Maryland, within a two-story stone structure that dates to the early 1800s. Originally built as the barn and stables for Oakland, a large Howard County estate, the building was acquired by the Kittamaqundi Community in 1972 and thoughtfully renovated by 1977 — adding new flooring, lofted spaces, finished woodwork, and two stone fireplaces that now anchor both levels. The venue accommodates up to 125 guests and offers a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor settings. Inside, exposed wooden beams, original stone walls, and fireplace surrounds lend a warm and distinctive character that sets it apart from conventional banquet spaces. Outside, the Sacred Garden — completed in 2014 — provides a landscaped ceremony setting with a pond and waterfall, a labyrinth, an archway, and ample seating, all within a tree-lined natural landscape. Oliver's Carriage House is a DIY-friendly venue with no vendor restrictions, complementary Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, in-house tables and chairs for 125, an elevator, a sound system, and on-site parking. The Loft is a place where you can go to The Loft, which was once the barn's hayloft, still has its original wooden high beam ceilings and a new all-wood floor that allows for a choice of set up types. Enter the Loft via the iconic silo stairwell and take some one-of-a-kind shots. The area is warm and inviting thanks to the earth tones and maple seats. The Courtyard is a flower-filled courtyard adjacent to the Smithy/Tack Room that provides the perfect background for your special day. The Courtyard is a great place for photos and for people to relax and enjoy some fresh air. For an additional cost, white, fan-backed chairs would be provided for your wedding guests.
