Located in Woodbridge, VA The Old Hickory Golf Club is the area's most upscale golf course, wedding and banquet venue. Old Hickory Golf Club's course was meticulously built to complement its surroundings. The par-72, 7,190-yard championship course was designed by Tim Freeland of Jacksonville, FLA, who formerly worked for golf great Gary Player's design business and also collaborated on the design of Raspberry Falls Golf and Hunt Club, Old Hickory's sister course. Old Hickory Golf Club is a difficult course with several creeks to traverse and views to see, but it is also a course that golfers of all skill levels will appreciate. Your guests will be wowed by the gorgeous surroundings and layout, which will give them with many memorable moments. Old Hickory Golf Club's turn-of-the-century clubhouse has a ballroom and dining room, as well as a veranda with views of our wonderful course. Weddings, private celebrations and parties — even awards banquets following golf outings — can be held at the beautiful clubhouse with its spectacular views, which can accommodate up to 250 people. The History of Rockwood Manor Retreats and Events After leaving Washington, D.C., Carolyn Gangwer Caughey (pronounced "Coy") traveled west along the Old Conduit Road (now MacArthur Boulevard) to her newly purchased estate near Great Falls. Mountains of tall cedars, poplars, and oaks cover rock-studded hillsides that gently slope down to a stream valley. A name for Mrs. Caughey's country estate was suggested to her by the natural elements almost immediately: Rockwood. Carolyn was a well-to-do socialite whose ancestors traced their roots back to the American Revolution. She was also a successful businesswoman who had a passion for architecture and a keen eye for profit in the real estate market. According to Who's Who in the Nation's Capital, she is "active in civic betterment, particularly in relation to better-constructed and better-planned homes," among other things. It also mentions that she was responsible for designing one of the largest apartment buildings in the nation's capital at the time. As a result, many of her close friends were not surprised when she revealed that she had designed and personally supervised the construction of her new home. Visiting auctions and antique dealers in the area on a regular basis assisted her in the furnishing of her country estate. Celebrations This historic manor house, which can accommodate up to 120 guests for a ceremony on the wooded Patio, followed by cocktails on the Veranda and a sit-down dinner in the rustic elegance of Brooke Hall, is the focal point of our property. When the party is over, the Hoover Hall ballroom and festive Sun Porch are transformed into a two-level party space for dessert and dancing. Flexible floor plans allow you to personalize your guests' experience and the flow of your event, allowing you to create an event that is completely unique. Meetings Because of its close proximity to Bethesda, Tysons, the 270 corridor, and Washington, DC, Rockwood Manor is an excellent choice for your next business meeting. In our six flexible meeting spaces, we can accommodate groups ranging from 12 to 80 people. Alternatively, you can book the entire house for your conference, wellness retreat, or strategic planning sessions. Fort Belvoir Golf Club sits just south of Washington, D.C. on two championship 18-hole courses, the Woodlawn and the Gunston, whose original 18 was designed in part by Robert Trent Jones and later expanded to a 36-hole complex by Thomas Ault Clark and Associates. A PGA Class "A" professional staff oversees the grounds, considered among the finest military golf facilities in the world. Housed in a former Arlington County school building, the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington (MoCA Arlington) has occupied its location since 1976. The building was constructed in 1910 to a design by architect Charles M. Robinson and served as a school before being adapted for cultural use; it is designated both an Arlington County Landmark and a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. A 2005 renovation restored the building's original Louis Comfort Tiffany Studio stained-glass windows, which remain a signature feature of the space today. Spanning 17,000 square feet, the museum houses nine exhibition galleries, twelve artist studios, and three classrooms. Its event spaces include the Tiffany Gallery, set beneath the restored stained-glass windows, along with several of the museum's rotating contemporary art galleries, together accommodating up to 150 guests for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and receptions. For over 65 years, Springfield Golf & Country Club has been a private gathering place for members and their families in Springfield, Virginia, offering a golf course, tennis and racquets courts, a pool, and patio.
