It was built in 1876 by German immigrants during a time when horse drawn carriages, railroad tracks, and old saloons were still in use. Today, the house is one hundred and forty years old. The original homesteaders were the well-known Wunsche Brothers of Old Town Spring, who still live on the property. Originally known as "Oak Tree Manor," the historic structure sits on its original site on Spring Stuebner Road and is surrounded by century-old oak trees, some of which are more than two hundred years old. One Live Oak has qualified to be included in the Harris Country Tree Registry, and one Willow Oak has been recognized as a county-wide champion in its category by the Harris County Tree Commission. A living room and a master bedroom have been the only major additions to the main house in recent years, with the remaining rooms being renovated. The original wood has been preserved to the greatest extent possible. The grounds have recently been enhanced with the addition of a Gazebo, a swimming pool, and a reception hall. Numerous weddings have taken place under the shade of the two-hundred-year-old oak tree over the course of several generations. According to local legend, couples who tie the knot under this tree will be blessed with happiness, children, and, of course, a long-lasting relationship. Larry and Karen began to dream about magnificent vineyards and possibly even creating wine while traveling around Italy, France, Australia, New Zealand, and other exotic locations. When Wild Stallion Vineyards was founded in 2009, that goal became a reality! In 2008, Wild Stallion Vineyards planted a small test site of Blanc du Bois grapes, a variety of the widespread Vitis vinifera that is best suited to the Gulf Coast environment. Blanc des Bois grapes create a dry, fruity wine that has received numerous national and international prizes. We currently have nearly three acres of trees planted, and they are doing fantastically! We planted two more acres directly adjacent to the Event Center in the spring of 2015 to provide our guests a closer look at the vines. A vineyard is the most tranquil and lovely location for a wedding. Who wouldn't want to exchange vows in front of a vineyard? Wild Stallion Vineyards is Harris County's lone vineyard, so you won't find anything like it anywhere else. The Wild Stallion Event Center is the ideal location for your next birthday celebration, family gathering, business meeting, wedding, bridal shower, rehearsal dinner, or any other event that would benefit from a gorgeous vineyard backdrop. Schneider Hall is nestled on Highway 71 South just a few miles outside of Columbus, Texas. Whether you’re looking for a charming place to hold your wedding, a fun place to have a family reunion, an out of town business meeting, or just a party for party’s sake everyone will be able to come because of our central location; we are within 2 hours of Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. It offers the perfect place to host any event. Schneider Hall is an original Texas Dancehall that operated throughout the 1930’s. It was run by the Schneider brothers; Fred, Jim, Willie, and Jake. They hosted regular dances at the hall and many town events including the 1939 Farmers League Rally Day which was reported to have had over 1000 people attend. The hall officially closed its doors in 1942, but still hosted events and parties throughout the 1950’s. The hall was used for hay storage until 2009 when the Burris family began renovations for their daughter’s wedding reception.
