This Italian neo-Renaissance inspired masterpiece, designed by architect Benjamin Wistar Morris and completed in 1921, boasts 65 foot high ceilings, soaring marble columns, and magnificent inlaid floors. The Cunard Building was designed by architect Benjamin Wistar Morris and completed in 1921. The grandly presented maritime theme emphasizes the power and reach of the Cunard Line when its new headquarters opened in 1919, at a time when New York had grown to become the world's largest city and busiest port, as well as the world's largest city and busiest port. After passing through the opulent vestibule and great hall, which was inspired by ancient Roman baths and where transatlantic voyages on liners like the Queen Mary and the two Queen Elizabeths were booked, visitors are greeted by a grand staircase. A decorative program centered on shipping themes was developed in collaboration with muralist Ezra Winter, and as a result, the lobby is adorned with starfish, seahorses, shells, and sirens, as well as the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria, three sailing ships used by Christopher Columbus on his voyages to the New World.

    Broad Street Ballroom

41 Broad St, New York, NY 10004, USA

A majestic space in every sense of the word, Broad Street Ballroom, part of Léman Manhattan Preparatory School, is one of New York City’s grandest event venues. 41 Broad was built in 1928 as the Lee, Higginson, & Company Bank Building. Cross & Cross architectural firm — known as Old Society New York’s architects of choice — designed it in an austere, late 1920’s Classical Revival style, an aesthetic that defined New York City both here and in other of their designs, including 20 Exchange Place, The Guggenheim Museum, and Columbia University Church of Notre Dame. Stepping into The Ballroom is like entering another era (with the exception of the amazing audio-visual setup). Located at 41 Broad Street in the heart of New York’s historic Financial District, the Broad Street Ballroom has captivated visitors for decades with its timeless elegance. The markers of New York’s Gilded Age complement this modern event space under Cathedral-height ceilings, with its Broadway-level 200-light rigging, full concert audio system, and modern HD projector with 22-foot by 22-foot screen. Originally designed in 1928 as a bank in the Classical Revival style by renowned architects Cross & Cross, the 5,800-square-foot Ballroom is adorned with 30-foot bronze capped marble mosaic columns. The room’s particular glory is a wraparound mural by artist Griffith Baily Coale, depicting generations of sailing vessels that reflect New York’s history as a port city and celebrate the Ballroom’s location in the heart of history. The Broad Street Ballroom is a place of celebration and community for the Léman Manhattan Preparatory School. Such events include The Ballroom’s partnership with The Artists Den, the critically acclaimed television and digital music series best known for presenting small, secret concerts by extraordinary artists in non-traditional settings for the TV show Live from the Artists Den. The show connects fans with a unique and intimate musical experience for some of the industry’s finest acts. Live from the Artists Den broadcasts nationally on public television, and internationally in the UK, Japan, Germany, Australia, Canada, Israel, and Latin America.

    The Dumbo Loft

155 Water St, Brooklyn, New York, NY, USA
    • Spaces for 140-200 Guests
    • 1 Event Space

Originally a residential block, the Dumbo neighborhood developed into a major factory area in the late 1800s-early 1900s. Soon, the manufacturer Edward H. Cole established it as one of the most industrial neighborhoods in the city. This brought in William Taylor & Sons Columbian Iron Works on Adams and Water Street, a sign making company, a brass foundry, a two-story machine shop and storage facility for E. W. Bliss and Phillips, Doup & Company. Many of these factories in the area were demolished to make way for the Manhattan Bridge. Luckily, the building at 155 Water Street wasn’t affected by the construction of the bridge and has a long history of manufacturing ironworks and other materials. In 1905, Edward Cole used the factory to make steam fittings then leasing out the property to Phillips, Doup & Company, who built steam heaters. Cole sold the building in 1920 to L&H Stern, manufacturers of smoking pipes and accessories. The company used the lower floors as offices and the upstairs as the production space. The simple brick facade, articulated by segmental openings and projecting lintels and sills, marks 155 Water Street as an example of the American round arch style. Additionally, the slow-burning mill construction and history make it an amazing representative of American factory architecture – contributing greatly to the character of the Dumbo Historic District.
